Out with the queen

I watch as the makeup artists transform the queen to look like her age before she goes and deliver the speech.
She said this is to prevent the humans from knowing what the royal family actually is and to keep the identity of the supernatural world a secret as well as the pack safe.
I can't help but gape a bit when I realize how old she is. She looks around my mom's age but remembering she's a vampire means she's probably centuries older than even this.
I blink twice when the artists, who are also werewolves, are done.
I can see fragments of her young self but this is definitely what she would look like if she actually ages.
"Is it time?" The queen asks the blonde who is her private secretary and she nods looking at her tablet.
"Yes your majesty, you're on in two mins." The queen nods and gestures for me to follow her.
I follow behind slowly as I watch and observe how things are done.
The secretary briefs the queen on what she's doing today before giving her the speech which she is going to deliver.
She smiles at me before walking onto the stage and standing in front of a big podium with numerous microphones.
I can see the press standing in front with their cameras and microphones waiting and behind them is a sizeable number of citizens waiting to hear what the queen has to say.
I'm sure by now ever television station in Artea is tuned in to listen.

Her speech was to create public awareness on the importance of education and health care and now it's time for the press to ask questions.
A lot of the questions asked are concerning her speech and she answers each and every one of them appropriately.
I observe closely to see how she carries herself in front of crowds and basically her whole composure and body language.
She stands before them like a strong leader and something like a confident mother especially when one journalist asks how they are working to make education and health care more accessible to the public.
She answers confidently by saying the king, Ethan, is on it and the government is having parliament sessions to ensure to it.
The press continues to ask more questions and the queen announces she's taking a final one before someone is chosen.
I continue to observe everything from back stage whilst also staring at the television for more visuals.
"Is the rumors about a future queen being around true?" At that I snap my neck in the direction of the television to see the journalist who asked that question and also to observe the facial expression of the queen.
It's so obvious that the question took her by surprised and the way the whole place falls silent tells me that everyone has been wondering the same thing.
"We heard the king has found someone suitable and is ready to get married." The journalist adds and my jaw almost hits the floor
Marriage? Who cooked up these gossips.
Ethan and I are only in the dating stage.
Actually thinking about it we haven't really made it official, well because me deciding to move in with him six months ago kinda said it all.

The queen clears her throat after recovering before facing the public.
I can tell she's debating on telling the truth or not.
"Please follow me." Someone says and I turn to see the private secretary.
I look at her confused then stare at the television.
I look around and I realize everyone is staring at me.
Most especially the werewolves and I think I know why.
I nod and decide to follow the secretary who leads me to a huge office and turns on the television.
She locks the door and also stays with me.
"I'm sorry but I cannot answer that question. That information is confidential and is the king's personal life which I believe I cannot disclose to the public. Thank you."
The queen says and walks away from the stage whilst the press continue to press on and the guards struggle to keep them back.
I continue to stare at the television until the doors open and the queen walks in.
She looks directly at me before signaling her secretary to switch off the television.
She holds her hands out to me and I walk towards her taking them.
"I'm sorry if it feels like we are hiding you." She says and I feel like interrupting because I feel otherwise.
"But I hope you do understand why I did what I did?" She asks and I nod.
"Yes your majesty, I know we don't go about discussing royal family business to the public." She nods smiling at me.
"Yes, and you're also not ready for the public eye. I don't want people following you around and stalking you." I nod again.
"Also it's actually up to you and Ethan to decide when you'll come out to the public. I honestly have no right to intervene." She adds before pulling me into a hug and I smile back at her when we pull away.
She's right about her last statement though, it's actually up to Ethan and I?
