Out with the queen PT 2

1066 Words
The rest of the day is spent moving around from one orphanage to another to offer food and relief items. The queen tells me about the crisis they are going through mainly concerning food and I feel empathy towards them. Sneaking into one of the empty rooms and away from everyone I take out my phone to make a huge donation to the foundation supporting this course and I make it anonymous. I walk back into the room where the queen is surrounded by delighted orphans who put a huge smile on her face. I can't help but smile at the beautiful sight in front of me until a camera light flashes and my mind is drawn to the media team we brought. I remember the queen says it's to prove that she did exactly what the money was raised for and gave it to the right people. We leave the second orphanage and move to the third which the queen tells me is the last and most special. Surprisingly we don't bring the media team with us and I realize the queen has her makeup too removed. We arrive in Wolf city, the main capital city of Artea and I suddenly understand her actions. The last orphanage we are heading to is for werewolves since Wolf city is the place I believe Michael told me is the home of the werewolves and has the greatest population of them. It's so obvious in the name but I guess no human will actually think of it. We arrive at the orphanage and just like all the others the staff and children are outside with banners waiting with smiling faces for us. This time though we are only accompanied by guards and it seems the truck carrying the donation has already dropped them off. Now it's just left with the queen to donate the money. We move inside into the orphanage and the queen does her looking around and confirming for herself that the children are living in good conditions. She then moves to the huge hall with the children and interacts with them. She decides to tell them a story before going and all the children gather around her delighted. I watch the queen pick a story book with a smile on her face when suddenly I feel someone tugging the ends of my dress. I look down to see a little boy about five years old with his face stained with tears. Pity washes over me and I immediately squat to his level. "Hey sweetie, what's wrong? Why are you crying?" The little boy sucks on his thumb whilst looking at me as if studying my face. Suddenly he raises both his little arms up as if telling me to carry him. I smile at the gesture and quickly pick him up before standing straight. I see the staff looking at me perplexed and I smile. "He usually has a temper and doesn't let anyone carry him. He must surely like you." The head of the orphanage who is an old lady says whilst reaching me. "I'm sure you resemble someone for him." She adds and I smile faintly at her. She calls one of the workers to come and take the boy away from me but the moment the person stretches his arms towards him the little boy quickly looks away and wraps his tiny arms around my neck tight. I chuckle. "It's okay, I'll hold him." I tell the head and she nods delighted. "What's his name?" I ask. "James.“ The head replies and I nod smiling. James. We arrive back at the castle pass dinner time and feeling so exhausted I decide to skip dinner so I can have enough rest for tomorrow. * Waking up the next morning I find myself alone in bed. It's as if Ethan didn't even sleep here last night. I make a mental note to call him after breakfast before climbing out of bed to start my day. I have breakfast with the queen alone and she tells me today is going to be similar to yesterday. I'm thrilled that Arthur is no longer joining our meal times due to the schedule of the queen, well except on days were she doesn't go anywhere. Suddenly I remember Ethan and I ask the queen if he came home last night. "Ah yes, He has gone for an international forum and he'll be back in two days." I nod at the queen hiding my disappointment. "He also said he called you but you must have been asleep by then." She adds and I finally look at my phone to see his missed calls. I put my phone on silent yesterday so I guess that's why I didn't hear anything. However I'm not sure when I can call him. Due to our difference in time zones I don't want to disturb him. I exhale hard before putting my phone away. * The day goes by so fast like yesterday and we arrive home exhausted but just in time for dinner. I change for dinner and make my way to the dining hall. On my way I meet the chamberlain and I ask if the queen has arrived. "I'm sorry your majesty, the queen is resting and won't be able to make it to dinner." He replies with his head bowed and I thank him before he walks away. I sigh looking at the door before I turn around to leave when they suddenly open. "Don't tell me you're also skipping dinner." Arthur's voice comes from behind and I exhale hard. "How's my aunt? I can imagine the amount of meals she has skipped." He continues speaking and I turn around hiding the fact that I'm annoyed. "It's nice to see you're concerned, but I can assure you the queen is fine.“ He nods moving closer. "And what about you?" He asks rather curiously and I narrow my eyes causing him to chuckle. Suddenly my phone rings startling me a bit. I look at the caller and can't help but feel relieved and happy. "I guess that's my cue." He says whilst looking at my phone. "Goodnight." He adds in a low tone before walking away. Is it weird how he acts rude and arrogant around everyone but quite different around me? Makes me wonder what he's up to.
