Before I can totally grasp what just happened one of them launches his long claws at me but I quickly move back and fall over.
This commotion catches the attention of the other prisoners and they turn to watch with amusement.
Sickos
I quickly stand on my feet so I can have a better chance of defending myself, but up against these monsters I don't even stand an iota of a chance.
Alex continues to shake the bars violently trying to get out. This catches the attention of one of the lycans and that leaves me one to fight with.
I look at the huge creature before me and I swallow hard.
He launches for me again and I move back but with some super speed he reaches me and his other claws scratch my upper abdomen.
I fall over and I look at my torn t-shirt with blood oozing out.
My heart beats faster than ever before and I stare at the lycan who growls loudly showing his huge teeth.
The prisoners laugh in spite of themselves but that's not my main focus now.
Without thinking twice I quickly rush out of there.
With my back to the iron gate I hold my ground very strongly though I know I'm no match for their strength and that they can push me and this door off its hinges.
Suddenly a sharp pain is felt around my shoulder and my eyes widen with shock when I see the claws of the lycan.
He takes it out and I scream in pain.
I collapse to the ground then put some pressure on my shoulder.
I expect the lycan to push the door open and finish me off at this moment but surprisingly it doesn't move pass the gate.
It stares at me angrily whilst pacing right and left as if…..
"You can't cross.” I whisper to it.
He growls at me again and I almost flinch.
These creatures are supposed to be extinct. How does the werewolf council have them under their control?
I swallow then stand to face it in spite of the pain I feel.
The other one comes to join its friend and they both stare at me as if I'm some food to devour.
With pressure still on my shoulder I stare at them whilst formulating a plan in my head.
If I go in there like this then I'm dead. I don't stand a chance against them.
I sigh and look around frustrated. My eyes suddenly fall on my bracelet and I sigh.
I think I know someone who does.
I stare at the bracelet on my wrist and I swallow hard for what I have to do.
I'll put it back really quick, she won't even know it was gone.
Without thinking twice I take off the bracelet then close my eyes.
When I open them I'm in Alex's cell and he's looking outside with a worried frame.
"I'm here.” I speak and be quickly turns around.
He looks at me shocked and when I take a step forward he moves back.
"Alex it's me. You're going to have to trust me if you want to get out of here.” He doesn't look convinced
"I'm working with a witch, time is running out.” I add stretching my hand towards him.
I slowly move closer to him and the moment I get a hold of his hand the lycans appear in front of his cell.
He nods at me and I close my eyes again. When I open them we're in the backseat of the car.
Trina screams loudly out of nowhere and suddenly stops the car.
Luckily we just jerk forward and don't fly out.
She turns to look at us, especially me totally confused and shocked and at the same time relieved.
I quickly put on the bracelet before she realises and I force a smile at her.
"Oh Gosh you had me so worried. I..I..I couldn't reach you and I couldn't get you out. I juss…just kept following the car hoping they'll sto…” I can see she's shaking so I quickly move to the passenger seat beside her then give her a quick hug.
"It's okay. I'm okay. You did it. You saved me, you saved us.” I assure her but she doesn't look that convinced.
"We have to get off the road.” Alex says.
She looks ahead on the road and her mind finally comes to the fact that we're still on a highway.
"Yeah yeah.” Trina replies then starts driving. We take a turn then start heading back.
"Can you please give him something to wear.” Trina glances through the rear view mirror at Alex and I quickly nod.
"There are clothes in that bag.” I point to the bag beside him and he nods.
He takes out a top then puts it on. This masks his rogue smell a bit and I nod to myself.
"Gosh! what happened to you?” Trina asks worried as she also notices my t-shirt and the blood stain.
"Are you hurt?” Alex asks to my surprise and I shake my head at him.
*
We arrive at a hotel and immediately Trina packs the car she locks the doors then turns to Alex.
"If you try anything sneaky to escape or you try to hurt us, I'll blow your brains out then cut you into tiny pieces.” She warns but he looks at me instead.
I nod at him and he nods back. Trina unlocks the door and all three of us alight.
We get two adjoining rooms and Alex enters last looking around.
I point to the door where his room is and he nods.
Suddenly Trina walks up to him and whispers a word.
Alex collapses to the ground and I stare at her shocked.
"He's just asleep, and you have to explain how you got out of there.”She looks at me dead serious and I swallow a bit.
I look into her eyes pleading for answers and I hesitate a bit.
"You owe me an explanation. I was so worried about you then all of a sudden you appear in the car like…. magic.” She whispers the last word then stares at my bracelet which I quickly hide behind me.
"You took it off?” She looks at me horrified and begins to slowly back up.
"Trina, calm down. It's still me.” I assure her whilst moving closer to her.
"Okay.” She instantly stops and calms down but I sense something is still up.
Suddenly she turns to the door and tries to run away.
Luckily I catch up and prevent her from opening the door.
We struggle over the handle for a while until she uses magic to send me across the room.
Thankfully I was able to lock the door and take the key before I went flying.
Trina tries to open the door but she figures it's locked then turns to me.
"Trina I know this is hard for you to believe.”
I stand and start moving towards her but she sends an object flying towards my head and I quickly dodge.
"Just think of it. If she was me why would she let you bring her and Alex here!” I yell for her to hear me out and she pauses to consider my words.
"It's really me.” I place my hand on my chest and try to reach out with the other. Her eyes begin to soften and she magically lowers the lamp.
I sigh relieved then sit down exhaustingly at the edge of the bed.
"But how is this possible. We warned you never to take it off.”
"Yeah.” I reply.
"Then why did you take it off!” She yells.
"Because I had to!” I yell back frightening her a bit.
"I'm sorry.” I quickly apologize.
"I had no choice, I couldn't leave him behind.” Silence falls into the room.
"I'm sorry I failed you.” She voices out and I look at her.
"You didn't fail me, in fact I'm glad you kept following the truck.” I smile at her and she smiles back relieved.
"But how come you're still the same?”
"I don't know how I'm still the same, but I guess it's been on for so long that it will take a long while for her to realise it's gone.”
"What about Ethan?”
"Please Trina, he must not hear of this.” I plead with my eyes and she slowly nods.
"OMG.” Trina sighs heavily.
"I'm so sorry Claire… I….”
"It's okay. I know everyone is scared of that side of me…. Sometimes I am too.” I admit.
"So what happened in there?” She points to my t-shirt again.
"Something that shouldn't be in existence.” I reply then stare at Alex who is on our floor.
Well at least he's safe now.
