First Test
Teddy hopped out of the Thunderbird and waved to his mom. It was a little after eight o'clock on Saturday night and Tem's parents were heading out the door. They stopped to give Tem some last-minute instructions on what he could and could not do. The boys would be home alone; Ellen was also out for the evening.
The door closed. Teddy pulled out The First Book, and they again examined the pictures of the amulets. They definitely didn't look like the hidden amulets. They were solid colors, not translucent, and in the shape of animals or symbols like the ankh—a cross with a loop at the top—representing life. The amulets in the book protected against evil.
