Chapter 7

596 Words
Josh was trying to think of anything to get his mind off of Abbie. No matter what he told himself, he knew that he missed Abbie and worried about her safety. Where was she? Did she find someone else? Did she really want the marriage to end? Millions of thoughts ran through his head everyday, making him worried more and more every second. Through the crowd of bodies, he noticed someone leaning up against a wall with a drink in her hand, the other wrapped around another man’s neck. Scowling, he stood up from the bar stool and went to the back of the club, noticing Abbie with her body against someone else. “Excuse me, but do leave my wife alone.” The guy looked at him and scowled. “Excuse me, but this lady is mine for the night. Aren’t you sweetheart?” He noticed Abbie blush and nod. “Abbie, you are leaving with me. Right f*****g now.” Abbie looked at him and scowled. “I’m not your wife anymore, Josh.” “The hell you aren’t. You are coming with me. NOW!” “Leave me alone, Josh.” “You’re drunk, Abbie. Let’s go.” “I’m NOT going with you!” “I wasn’t asking. I’m telling you. We’re leaving. Right now.” “Josh. I said no!” Scowling, he picked her up and shoved her in his car. “LEAVE ME ALONE, JOSH!” “Shut the f**k up, Abbie.” By the time they got to the house, she gave up on fighting because she knew it was pointless. She knew he’d win. “Josh, why am I here? I...” Before she could finish, Josh pushed her up against the wall and kissed her. “You belong to me, Abbie.” He slid her dress down her waist and took his clothes off before they even reached the bedroom. “Josh...” He covered his hand over her mouth and shook his head. “I can’t let you go, Abbie.” *** The next morning: Abbie sat up, realizing that she didn’t have any clothes on and she was not in her apartment. She instead noticed Josh’s naked torso next to her, sound asleep. She had it in her head that she wanted a divorce indefinitely, but it made her sad when her lawyer called and said that all she had to do was sign a few papers and it would be done. Just as she got out of bed, she heard Josh’s voice. “You regret it.” “W-what?” “It couldn’t be more obvious, Abbie. You’ve changed, not in a good way either.” “I...” “What happened to us?” The question ran through Abbie’s head, unable to even answer. Hearing him like this made her heart want to break into millions of pieces. “What do you mean?” “We used to be so happy together, Abbie. What changed your mind?” “While you continued to accuse me of the photo being real and blaming me, thinking that I really cheated on you and I failed to tell you I was pregnant.” “You were?” Nodding, Abbie put her clothes on and before giving it thought, she sat in her car, staring at the house before leaving.
