Aleena Wilder has spent her entire life believing she was just a quiet, human girl—raised by an omega family in the Wildwood Pack and working as a waitress in a local diner. Her days are filled with serving the pack members who rarely notice her, including Nathanael Stormrider, the arrogant heir to the Alpha throne. Though Nathanael treats her with disdain, Aleena has secretly harbored a crush on him for years, longing for a connection that will never come. But everything changes when she learns she is his fated mate. Nathanael rejects her cruelly, convinced she is beneath him. As Aleena endures his torment, strange dreams begin to awaken, hinting at a power she doesn’t understand. When a dangerous attack on the pack reveals a shocking truth about her origins, Aleena’s world is turned upside down. The girl she thought was human is something far more powerful—and far more important—than she could have ever imagined. Now, Aleena must navigate betrayal, danger, and a growing connection to Nathanael, while uncovering the secrets of her past that threaten to change the fate of the entire pack. Will she embrace the truth, or will the forces working against her tear everything apart?

Chapter 1. The Unfortunate Day
Aleena Wilder What I saw in Nathanael Stormrider was a man who broke rules as effortlessly as he breathed. He was Wildwood’s ultimate troublemaker—a playboy who thrived on parties and chaos. And yet, despite his reputation, there was something about him that captivated me. Perhaps it was his striking good looks: dark hair that fell perfectly messy, steel-gray eyes that seemed to see through you, a jawline sharp enough to cut glass, and a body built like a warrior’s. He was the epitome of confidence and charisma. But what truly set him apart was his lineage. Nathanael was the first son of Alpha Alexander, the leader of the highest-ranking clan in our pack—the Stormriders. His position alone made him untouchable, a prince among wolves. And me? I was nothing. I was a human girl, a nobody, plucked off the streets by the Wilder family. They gave me a home and a place in the pack, but I never forgot where I came from. People like me didn’t belong in the orbit of men like Nathanael. Still, I couldn’t stop myself from liking him. It didn’t make sense, but my feelings for him persisted, tucked away like a fragile secret. Not that it mattered. Nathanael had never acknowledged my existence. Not once. Why would he? I wasn’t the kind of girl who caught a man’s attention. That was Alice, my coworker at the restaurant, with her flawless features and charm that could sway even the most stoic man. Compared to her, I was invisible. And yet, there I was, thinking about Nathanael because he was sitting in the corner of the restaurant. He lounged casually, his cousins Elijah and William flanking him. They were deep in conversation, but I couldn’t stop myself from stealing glances at him. Nathanael looked effortlessly sexy in a plain black t-shirt, the tattoos on his arms and neck adding to his bad-boy allure. He exuded confidence, his posture relaxed but commanding. He was magnetic, and I couldn’t help but be drawn to him, even from across the room. “Aleena, can you serve Nathanael and his cousins?” Alice’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts. She tapped my shoulder, wincing slightly as she held her stomach. “Me?” I asked, my voice betraying my nerves. “Yes, you. Their order is ready, and I need to use the restroom.” She didn’t wait for my response, disappearing before I could protest. My heart pounded as I stared at the tray. This was it—my chance to speak to Nathanael. But instead of excitement, all I felt was dread. What if I messed up? What if he ignored me or, worse, humiliated me? I took a deep breath and picked up the tray, my hands trembling slightly. Steeling myself, I walked toward their table. But fate had other plans. I didn’t see the chair jutting out in front of me. My foot caught its leg, and I stumbled forward. The tray flew from my hands, its contents spilling everywhere. A glass of cold liquid landed squarely on Nathanael’s chest. The restaurant fell silent. Time seemed to freeze as all eyes turned to me. I stood there, mortified, unable to do anything but stare at Nathanael. His gray eyes locked onto mine, but they weren’t just gray anymore—they were glowing red with rage. Before I could utter a word, I felt a strong hand grab my collar, yanking me off the ground until I was standing on my tiptoes. Nathanael’s face was inches from mine, his voice cold and cutting. “How dare you ruin my clothes, you filthy omega!” “I—I’m sorry,” I stammered, my voice barely above a whisper. I was terrified, my heart racing as his anger bore down on me. Nathanael’s grip tightened, and for a moment, I thought he was going to throw me across the room. But then, a calm yet firm voice interrupted. “Let her go.” Nathanael froze, his eyes narrowing as his grip loosened. I turned to see who had spoken and found myself staring at Adrian, Nathanael’s younger brother. Adrian stepped between us, his expression a mix of calm authority and quiet disapproval. “She’s already apologized, Nathan. Let her go.” Nathanael scoffed, releasing me roughly. “She’s a dirty omega who ruined my clothes. Why are you defending her?” “It was an accident,” Adrian said, his voice steady. “And it’s no excuse to treat her like this.” The tension in the room was palpable. No one dared to intervene—not the other pack leaders seated in the restaurant, nor Nathanael’s cousins, who merely smirked, as though they found the entire situation amusing. Adrian, however, stood his ground. It was no wonder he was the pride of the Stormrider clan. Unlike Nathanael, Adrian was calm, kind, and empathetic. He was the golden boy of the pack, rumored to be Alpha Alexander’s chosen successor. Sometimes, I wondered why I didn’t just fall for Adrian instead. He was everything Nathanael wasn’t—gentle, understanding, and respectful. But no matter how much I admired him, my heart stubbornly belonged to Nathanael. Nathanael shoved Adrian aside, his glare icy. “You’ll pay for this,” he growled before storming out of the restaurant, his cousins following close behind. Adrian turned to me, his expression softening. “Are you okay?” “I’m fine. Thank you,” I said, though my voice trembled slightly. Adrian nodded and addressed the other patrons, urging them to return to their meals. Slowly, the restaurant came back to life, though the tension lingered in the air. Back in the kitchen, I wasn’t surprised to find Megan, the restaurant manager, waiting for me with a stern expression. “Why are you so careless, Aleena?” she scolded. “I’m sorry, Megan. It was an accident,” I said, my voice low. “You’d better be careful next time. We can’t afford to upset someone like Nathanael Stormrider.” I nodded, biting my lip as Megan walked away. I cleaned up the mess I’d made, my thoughts swirling with everything that had happened. Nathanael’s words echoed in my mind. “Filthy omega.” I knew I wasn’t anything special, but hearing those words from him stung more than I wanted to admit. Still, I couldn’t be angry with him. I was confused. Nathanael, the man who surrounded himself with beautiful women, had reacted to me with nothing but disgust. Was it because of my plain appearance? If I were as beautiful as Alice, would he have treated me differently? ***
