ChapterTwo

Lyra's POV “ Asshole,” I said without thinking twice. I turned to look at Skye with a disgusted look," You are a gold digger, a good-for-nothing b***h who had a good, no, great person who loved and cared for you, but what did you do? You took her husband-to-be and had s*x with him two days before her wedding and don't have any remorse about it at all.” I turned back to Eldeic “Why did you do it?” “ I did it because I can't marry a latent or have her bearing my children, despite you having the power to heal injuries.” “Okay, so that's why,” I said, hoping to say more, but I couldn't. I stood there for a while before saying," I hope the both of you will never have a happy ending, especially you, Skye.” I said and left the room. I was walking and running at the same time until I started to run. I stopped at the entrance of the pack. I didn't want Bobby to see me like this because he's like my second elder brother, and he wouldn't take it easy if I told him what happened. I went to the back of the pack house to use the second exit," thank the Moon goddess that there wasn't just one exit in the pack house.” I stopped in my tracks,” s**t, I forgot that there were guards at the second exit too, what am I going to do? I don't want anyone to see me like this, they might tell Bobby, oh please don't let them be there right now.” I said, praying to the Moon goddess. “This s**t is fifty-fifty,” I said, slowly opening the door. I peeped my head out, looking from left to right. “ Phew, none of them are here,” I said and quickly ran out, closing the door. Since my car wasn't there, I had to walk back to my parents' house, and thankfully it wasn't that far from the pack house. Mine was a three-hour drive and a six-hour walk. Having time to think about what just happened. “Gosh, I can't think straight.” I sighed out, looking at the sky that was turning gray. I looked at my feet and kept walking. I looked up to both sides and wondered why there were so many people walking on the street today. “I hope Mom and Dad wouldn't mind if I stayed at theirs for the next three days or a week,” I said, not realizing I had just passed their house and going to the next house but was stopped by a mailbox which I hit my head on. “ Ouch,” I said, rubbing my forehead and scanning the area where I was. “ When did I get here? Never mind, I want to cry silently in my room.” I said I would go to the house. I got to the front door and was about to open it but stopped, I didn't want them to see me like this too. I ran to the back door, which was located in the kitchen. Thanks to the Moon goddess, it was already dark. I slowly and carefully opened the door and closed it the same way. The living room light was on, and I could hear my parent's voices. I carefully tiptoed to the stairs and was on the second step when I heard something odd. “ I hope Eldeic hasn't found out that Lyra isn't our daughter because he has his strange ways of finding out things.” Mom's worried voice was heard. “ It can't be, we burned all the evidence pointing to her not being our biological daughter, apart from us, Brody is the only person who knows about it,” Dad said. Hold on, my parents are not my biological parents and my big brother knows about it too. So for twenty years of my life, I have been living with a family that is not mine? That makes a little sense for why I am latent and they are not. Gees, so all my life has been a lie. “ Don't you think it's time we tell Lyra that she isn't our daughter?” Mom asked. “ You think so?” Dad asked back. “ I mean, she is already twenty years of age and is about to get married. But I hope she doesn't change the way she acts towards us when we tell her.” “ I trust her, she might not just talk to us for a while, but she would eventually come around.” “ I trust her too, she will eventually come… what was that?” Mom said alert and scanned the house with Dad. Shit, I was so keen on their conversation that I didn't realize I was holding on to the stairs handle too hard. I slowly realized the handle and moved further Into the dark. “ The sound might have come from the birds outside,” Dad said. “ Yeah, It might have been the birds,” Mom said, too. I ran out of the house through the back door and to the street. I kept running, not knowing where I was going. I only stopped to catch my breath. I looked around me and noticed I was in the woods. “ When did I get here?” I asked no one in particular to gasp for air. I fell on the floor and lay down to rest. Why did I run? Why is this life so hard? First I was betrayed by my best friend and my lover, and now I just found out my family is not my real family on the same day. “ Why? Why did you give me this life?” I yelled, looking at the already dark sky, hoping the Moon goddess would hear me and come down to explain it to me. I kept whining like a baby until I heard a growl coming from the woods. I immediately sat up on alert. “ What was that?" I asked, scanning the woods. It was dark, so I couldn't see too well. I kept scanning until my eyes landed on a pair of yellowish-gold eyes.
