Lyra's POV “Sh*t, are those werewolves eyes? F*ck.” I stood up and dusted my body. It's only one, so I still have a chance. Immediately I said that I heard another growl coming from another side of the woods. I turned to look at where the growling was coming from. I saw three other wolves emerging from the shadows and into the moonlight. I felt like prey surrounded by hungry-looking wolves. I was confused at first as to why there were rogue wolves in the woods. Then it occurred to me that I had gone into the part of the woods that was off limits, I saw the signs, but they weren't clear," fu*k, is this how I am going to die here? No, I won't die here, not now and not by these rogue wolves,” I said to myself, with fear and determination. I was about to turn around and run back to where I was coming from when the brown wolf with yellowish-gold eyes charged at me, I immediately lowered my body, and it flew over me. The one with gray fur and the two that were behind it came at me. I took cover to the nearest tree, which was an oak tree, and I climbed it. “ What can I do? I'm surrounded by these ugly-looking things, and to top that, I can't transform into my wolf. Jeez, please Moon goddess help me, what can I do? I'm already dead for being a latent. If I had the power to control the weather or control any element, that would have been nice. But no, I'm stuck with a power that if I use, it makes me weaker than I already am.” I said, looking up at the clouds. It was like the Moon goddess heard my prayers, the cloud that was covering the full moon parted ways and the full moon was shining on me. It was like the Moon goddess heard my prayers, the cloud that was covering the full moon parted ways and the full moon was shining on me. I could feel my wolf receiving strength and clawing at me, trying to come out. Despite my being a latent, with the amount of strength I am feeling right now, I feel like I can take on the Alpha's son. “Hm, it's showtime,” I said, looking down at the rogue wolves who were looking up at me. I jumped some matters away from the tree and landed on my feet. The brown and gray colored wolves came after me with their fur bristling and growls rumbling from deep within their chests. The barks and snarls of the other attackers reverberated through the dense undergrowth, adding to the eerie atmosphere of the forest. Their eyes gleamed with primal fury as they lunged, their teeth and claws slashing through the moonlight shadows. Even though I was outmatched in size, I fought with a fierce resolve, using the speed and agility the moon gave me to dodge their vicious attacks. I was a bit surprised at why the other wolves didn't come after me. I tried going to them, but they ran back as if sensing something In me. Likewise, I turned my attention back to the two wolves, who looked like they weren't ready to give up. The relentless pursuit of the rough wolves finally turned in favor of me. With a burst of desperate strength and cunning strategy, I managed to overcome the larger wolves, swiftly turning the tables on my attackers. The tables turned, and my determination and refusal to surrender fear fueled a newfound ferocity. With swift, agile movements, I lunged and nipped at the flanks of the larger wolves, surprising them with my tenacity and bravery. The intense chase continued through the twisting, shadowed paths of the woods, my refusing to yield ground for my survival. Driven by survival instincts and a fierce will for my survival, but that didn't stop them from scratching me on my body. I rebounded and boldly faced the rogue wolves. The once-aggressive wolves found themselves overcome by the rough wolves and annoyed by me, I was now empowered by a wave of intractable courage. With a definitive, thundering howl that echoed through the forest, I boldly chased the rough wolves away, leaving them to retreat in disarray and defeat. I stood up straight, and I could hear the cracks of my back being straightened, and it hurt. I didn't know how injured I was until I tried to move and felt a harsh pain and liquid rushing out from my left arm, my right leg, my sides, and my stomach. I managed to heal my leg, but not completely, and was too weak to heal another part of my injury. It was already getting cold and foggy, I tried scanning through the woods to see if I could find or remember the way back to the pack, but I couldn't remember or see clearly. “Damn it,” I said, leaping to the oak I once was on. Come to think of it, how did I manage to climb there? “ I guess the fear of being killed or made as dinner gives people the strength and energy they have lost before,” I said, grinning at how strong and fast I was because the tree was high and leaning on it for support, before sitting on the floor that was surprisingly warm for five minutes before turning cold. “I have to get home before Mom and Dad get worried, even if they are not my biological parents.” They took care of me since I was a baby and loved me so that still makes them my parents. I forced myself to stand up and try to walk home, despite every part of my body fighting and saying otherwise. I started to walk south because Dad always told me that if I ever get lost, I should use my hands to create a compass. So I can point out south and head there because that's where my family is. And if you don't know how to use your hand, use a phone. Thankfully, I know how to use both. I didn't know for how long I was walking until I started to feel dizzy. I tried to keep walking, but the cold, dizziness, fog, and my injury didn't let me, and I blacked out on the spot. ***************** “Hmm, my head hurts,” I said holding my head. “Am I meant to feel pain in the afterlife, why does it hurt so much?” “That's because you were barely alive when I saw you lying on the floor deep in the woods.”
