Chapter Four

999 Words
Paul's Point of View  I'm woken up with my wolf feeling anxious. I feel the aura like that of Kayla's. I guess it’s time my love. I will do my best to protect your little raven. I just wish I had more time before telling Tayla about you. I sigh. I'm in the doorway waiting for her to come home. I hear the she devils. That makes me smirk, knowing full well the meaning behind the name. She looks so much like her mother it’s hard for me. I know that I haven't been the best person for her since losing Kayla. She pulls up and looks frantically around. Well here goes nothing. We need to talk I say walking into the house. She says I don't have time for this. Sit, it has to do with your mom. She looks to taken aback by what I said. I know that I have piqued her interest. I know that you shifted today. I felt your aura, it woke me from a dead sleep. She sits down. Before you say anything let me explain as much as I can okay. I give her the book knowing that when she reads it. Her whole outlook will change, and it makes me sad. This is your moms’ gift you. It’s her family history and yours. I thought she was a she-wolf she asks.  No Hun she was so much more than a wolf. Your mother made me promise to protect you at all cost. I know that I have not been that nice to you. For that I am sorry. You need to know that you can’t trust anyone with that you read in that book. It is your life on the line if anyone finds out. You will be hunted like your mother was. She had a mate once. She was forced to flee to protect her unborn child. Why was my mom being hunted she asks almost so quietly that if I didn't have superhuman hearing I would not have heard her at all? To be honest she is/ was the last of her species. Well you’re the last now actually. Times up I say. I know you still have so many questions and I wish I had the time and answers for you. You need to get upstairs and pack, make sure you take this with you. Don’t ever lose it okay I say handing her the book once again. Oh, and Tayla if you hear anything like shouting or a fight don’t come downstairs, go out your window and into the forest. She’s up the stairs and in her room just as the door is banged on violently. I’m coming I say. I open the door to a red-faced Rick who is the Alpha. What can I do for you Alpha? Where is she? Is all he said. With all the courage I have I reply with you can’t have her. I promised her mother that I would protect her with my dying breath and that is what I intend to do. I shift into my wolf and lounge at the alpha. I’m caught midair by the neck. I hear a crack, and all goes black. My thought as everything goes black is, I tried my hardiest to protect her Kayla. Tayla’s POV I’m in my room packing everything that I can into a green military grade duffel bag. When I hear yelling and a snarl then a breaking sound. Our time is up Tayla, Ayla says. I grab the book, through the bag out the window and am on the ground just at Alpha Rick is at my bedroom door. I run into the wood with him yelling after me. You better run little b***h. I will find you one day mark… I was so far away that I didn’t hear the rest of what he said. I make it to the tree house gut as dusk was setting. When I through open the door, Mia and the twins are passing the small building. Where is Cat, I ask. She went to see what was taking you so long. s**t we need to go get her, I say. Throughout link I show them what happened since lunch. The twins go pail and Mia has to sit down. Cat comes through the door with a smirk on her face. Then comes Aiden and Kale. I don’t even look at them, I’m to concerned with what Rick the d**k said. I brought your bike and your dads credit card as well as yours she says tossing them to me. I catch them then say we need to leave. They all smile and say we are ready Alpha. What do you mean ready and why are you calling me Alpha I ask confused? Aiden answers for them, only the most powerful Alpha can have 2 mates at one time. Since you clearly have 2, we knew that you would need to leave Kale said. What about your dad Kale he is the Alpha. He looks at me and says my older brother is going to be next alpha and my mate trumps his anger. I have one thing to ask. Say you one say you all, I ask looking at each of them. They all look me right in the eyes and in response their eyes flicker with the same color RED. The color of alliance, of breaking the pack link, acceptance. My breath hitches in my throat. I clear my throat. Well we better get going. The Black Ruby Pack doesn’t take kindly to Rouges, I say. We walk out of the building deemed the tree house. Its ironic that we called it that seeing as its not in a tree at all.
