6. Mine

"Alpha Kaiah wants to meet with you"
When she said this, Jace and I looked at each other, before turning our focus back on her.
"How do you know this, Reina?" He asked.
"I overheard him telling his beta. I'm just here to give you a heads up. Later today, you will receive a phone call from him.” Her eyes darted to me ... “Have fun with your human". She said 'human' degradingly and left the room.
He locked the door and came to sit beside me, he seemed lost in thought. Those green eyes held so much worry in them.
"What will you do?" I asked him as I massaged his tense shoulders.
“If he does call, I will pick up and listen to what he has to say. If that will bring us to the end of this meaningless feud between our packs". He hugged me and left the room to converse with the pack members, while I stayed back to have a bath and dress up.
Just as Reina said, he received a phone call later in the day from Alpha Kaiah. After the convo, Jace and this Alpha Kaiah arranged a meeting to be held in two days...

That day finally arrived...
Jace, his parents, Maine, half a dozen other males, and I stood outside the pack house, waiting for the infamous Alpha and his subordinates as they were being escorted by Jace's beta and five other men. The guests were four in number; three walked behind the one I presumed to be their Alpha.
Alpha Kaiah had shoulder-length golden hair, silver-blue eyes, a well-built physique, and was the same height as my Jace. He wore a black leather jacket, jean trousers, and black boots, almost the same as the other three.
When they reached where we were standing, there was a short awkward silence until Alpha Kaiah smiled and offered Jace a handshake. I observed his hand to make sure there was nothing in it. Jace shook his hand and welcomed him to the meeting room. The meeting room is not attached to the main pack mansion, it was a stand-alone building. Jace insisted that I come with him while his parents and Maine went back inside the pack house and waited.
We stepped aside so that Alpha Kaiah and his men would enter first, then we followed. The large table at the center of the room had several seats surrounding it. At one end of the table, Jace sat at the head chair because he is the Alpha. I took the seat after his. On his other side was seated Ross, his beta, followed by the delta, and the gamma. They sat according to their rank. There were three other members of the pack who did not sit down, rather, they stood in the back with guns in their hands.
Alpha Kaiah sat at the other end of the table, his three men stood behind him with guns in their hands as well. Both Alphas had their hands on the table as they watched each other closely. I felt like I was in a mafia movie.
Alpha Kaiah smiled, showing his pearly whites: "Tsk, tsk, tsk...Alpha Jace of the Fangs pack, your reputation precedes all across the Moonlands. Yet, you are still afraid of me".
"And What makes you think that I’m afraid of you?" Asked Jace.
"Well, for starters, you have more men with guns behind you than any gang I have seen".
"I'd say the same for you. I guess we can't trust each other." Replied Jace.
"I ain't here to make you trust me, Jace."
"Why then are you here, Kaiah?"
That was when Alpha Kaiah's eyes traveled to me. As soon as we made eye contact, his eyes glazed over for a quick second. Then, he returned his gaze to Jace. "I will put the past behind me and end the fight between our packs"
"At what price?" Asked Jace firmly.
"Her". Alpha Kaiah casually stated. His eyes were focused on me.
I felt Jace's wolf fight to come out as his rage skyrocketed. He bared his fangs as he shot up from his seat and slammed his hands against the table, almost breaking it in two: "Get out! I do not want your peace!" His chest roared with the suppressed voice of his wolf.
Alpha Kaiah laughed. "If you think you can keep her away from predators, then you're living in a fool's paradise, my friend. Today, it is I, tomorrow, it will be another alpha asking for her... you will have to make the ultimate sacrifice one of these days, young Alpha".
"Out! Now!!" Jace's wolf fought for control. His beta tried to calm him down but it was futile.
I decided to swallow my fear and talk to him. I placed my hand on his now hairy skin, he snapped his head in my direction. His eyes were red like blood.
"Please, calm down, Jace". I got up from my seat, but my height was nowhere near his. So I stood on my chair to try to match up to his height. Then, I brought my lips closer to his lips which were already overlapped by fangs. I kissed him anyway.
He grabbed me and I got scared thinking he was going to throw me across the room, but no, he hugged me to himself and kissed me some more. His chest rumbled with the voices of his wolf, the most audible of all the sounds was the single word: "Mine".
Gradually, he changed back to normal Jace and the kiss deepened. I wrapped my arms around his neck and we kissed each other without caring who was watching.
"Beauty and the beast, how romantic". Alpha Kaiah mocked from the other end of the table.
Jace broke our kiss and turned his attention to him. "No deal, Kaiah, go tell all your other Alpha friends, my mate belongs to no one but my wolf and I. You may go." He helped me get down from the chair and kept his arms wrapped around my waist as we waited for the guests to leave.
Alpha Kaiah stood up and headed for the door which was nearest to Jace and me. When he got to the door, his blue eyes connected with my brown ones and the strangest thing happened; Suddenly, I heard his voice in my head: "I will come back for you, Seer.”
After which, he walked out with his subordinates, escorted by Jace's men. Leaving just me and Jace in the meeting room.
