I woke up the next day feeling refreshed. The soft bed made me lazy to get up even though the morning sunlight was forcing its way through the black curtains. Still sleepy, I tried to move my left arm but could not. What? I turned my head to find the weight that was keeping me from moving, it was Jace sleeping close to me. He is so adorable. Why is he so good-looking? I brushed my fingers lightly against his cheeks, he opened his eyes and stared lovingly at me. Then he smiled: "Waking up next to you is my biggest dream come true". He was almost about to kiss me but stopped himself. Maybe he remembered last night at the lake. He scooped over so I could move. I wanted to tell him to kiss me, but my mind was not ready for any s****l relationship, not with the damage caused by Mr. Meyers still playing somewhere at the back of my mind. Love scared me. Men scared me more. I went downstairs and helped Ana and Rowena prepare breakfast. While helping them, I learned that Ana is Rowena's mother and that they, as well as all the other maids, are what they call 'omegas', which is like the lowest ranking in the werewolf hierarchy. I was saddened by how someone's fate can be decided by the situations surrounding their birth, something they cannot control. I asked them a question: "If the Omega is the least powerful, what about humans?" "Humans are our food". Rowena answered truthfully, but her mother nudged her. I found them so fun to watch. But to be honest, her answer scared me. Everyone got down for breakfast, but I didn't see Jace. I was worried about him, so I went to check our bedroom, but he wasn't there. I wandered through the hallways of the large mansion until I started hearing noises coming from one of the rooms. Two people were arguing, but one of them sounded more powerful - because just one word they said made the other one whimper. I peeped through the keyhole and saw Jace and Reina. What's it with them? And why is he always upset when they are conversing? She said something that I couldn't hear and just like that, he gripped her neck and strangled her until she dropped, but she didn't die. He bent down and gave her a stern warning which I heard: "Don't ever fail me again". It was as if he was a different person. As I was lost in my thoughts, he walked up to open the door I was peeping through. Oh no, it was already too late, but I ran and hid behind the tall flower vase next to the door, hoping he wouldn't see me. Luckily for me, he walked past. I was about to follow him when Reina came out too. I stood like a deer caught in headlights. But she walked past me too. Wait, don't they see me? I went downstairs to the dining table. They had not started eating yet. Jace was sitting at the table, but Reina was nowhere to be found. "Where is Esnie?" Asked Jace. "She went upstairs to look for you". Replied Fiona. He pushed off his chair and walked upstairs. Why can't they see me? Just then, I heard a noise. I turned around and saw a hooded figure. He stood about ten feet away from me. Then, he removed his hood. I recognized his face. "Mr. Meyers?". His face was distorted, rotting, and falling apart. He took slow strides towards me, but I moved back. I screamed for help but no one could hear me. The next thing I saw was a battle between werewolves. I saw Jake's werewolf fighting off some other different colored werewolves. It was an attack from another pack, maybe because it was happening right in front of the pack house. I heard Mr. Meyers’s almost unrecognizable voice: "They are coming". That was when I screamed again and found myself on the kitchen floor. "Esnie? Esnie!" Everyone rushed in to find me. "Why did you scream?" Asked Gerald. Jace came in and held me. "I've been searching for you, my love". He kissed my forehead and took a long sniff of my scent. "For some minutes, I couldn't pick up your scent, it was as if you had disappeared. Thank God you're safe". But I was unfazed by all this. My mind was filled up with what I saw a moment ago. "They are coming. They are coming, Jace". I looked up at him. "Who?" They asked. "The other pack, they are coming". When I said those words, Jace and the others knew what I meant. "Rowena, take Esnie and go upstairs with the other female omegas. The rest of you, outside, now!" He ordered as he helped me stand up and they left immediately. I followed Rowena and the other female omegas up to the attic. They locked the door and gave each of us some kind of lotion. "This is a scent masker", explained Rowena. We stayed quiet. After about an hour, we heard howling. Moments later, the sounds morphed into roars and what I assume to be werewolf battle cries. Suddenly, there was a bang on the attic door and Fiona's voice came from below: "Open the door, please, everyone? Open the door". Ana moved to open the attic door, but I stopped her. She snapped at me: "I must save our Luna!" I whispered: "That's not our Luna, she doesn't even know any of our names". Ana paused. But the voice came again. "Help me, please, help!" Ana pushed me aside and went to open the door when I grabbed her and yelled, “Della, wait, don't open the door!". Ana and the rest of the omegas wondered why I called her 'Della' until the voice came again: "Please, open the door, Della, open up". It was at that time that Ana moved back. Whoever was out there was using the Luna's voice because they knew how dear she is to everyone. After realizing that we were not going to open, it began to use another voice, which I'm not sure is its real voice. It sounded like a razz, masculine voice: "Open up you bitches or you'll be sorry". He banged again, this time, more intensely. I don't know what came over me and I found myself downstairs. It felt like I was in a trance, but I could see clearly everything that was happening at the time. On instinct, I ran up to the attic and saw a scary man banging on the attic door. With my mind, I set him on fire and he fell to the floor in flames. It all felt like a dream. Then I ran outside and saw Jace's counterpart and the others fighting their opponents. I could see that they were getting exhausted. I remembered what I did to the man at the attic door... I closed my eyes and imagined the enemies in flames. When I opened my eyes, the werewolves that attacked us caught on fire. Each of them burned to ashes. Someone tapped me: "Esnie, wake up, wake up." That was when I felt like I was getting sucked back into the attic. I opened my eyes to find myself on the floor, in Rowena's arms. Ana and the other omegas were staring down at me. "Are you okay?" Asked one of the girls. I nodded in response and sat up. My head was hurting so badly. I touched the back of my head and saw blood on my hand. Ana brought a cloth and wrapped it around my head to stop the bleeding. A knock on the attic door drew our attention. "Ana, please open up, it's Fiona". This was the real Luna, no doubt. Ana opened the door and told her that I was bleeding. Fiona had Jace come pick me up and take me to our bedroom. He lay me down on our bed. "How is everyone?" I asked in a low voice because of my pounding headache. "We lost Douglas and Shelby. But the rest are safe,” He continued. “The strangest thing happened. As we were fighting, suddenly, every member of the Bloodhunters pack caught on fire, every single one. It was...bizarre". After explaining, he was lost in thought for a moment. "You must be used to bizarre things by now, am I right?" I laughed lightly. "I may have seen bizarre stuff, but this one is nothing like that I've seen". There was a knock on the door. On getting permission from us, Fiona, Gerald, Tremaine, and some other members of the pack entered. "How are you now, Es?" Asked Fiona. "I'm fine, thank you". I answered. "That's awesome. Because we were hoping you would answer our question... How did you know they were coming?
