Finding Out

1267 Words
Sebastian's POV I sat in my car and watched her walk to her tiny, red convertible. For an orphan, she clearly has money. Something is off about her, but I can't figure it out. My wolf is convinced that something is off too. She gives off a very faint smell that is sweet and fiery to the nose. It sends soft jolts through my whole body. My wolf wants to believe she is our mate, but we don't know. If she was a wolf, we would know. Her scent would give it off. She is different. I want her regardless if she is our mate. I want her. Damien is never this possessive. If anything, he has always pushed other females away. I could never date, because he would scare them away. However, the moment I turned and faced Sage, he wanted to jump out and jump on her. I don't know why. He doesn't know why. "We don't know her. I don't think she's a wolf or our mate. What happened to "we wait for our mate?" I asked him with mockery in my voice She is a wolf and our mate. I think. I'm pretty sure. Just let me spend time with her. I'll know quickly. He tried to jump forward and take control when we were alone in the classroom. Again, I don't know what's going on. So I need to ask the only people who could possibly tell me, my parents. After a 45 minute drive outside of town and into the forest, I came across a large gate surrounded by pack members. They waved to me and opened the gate. My father is the Alpha of our pack, and my older brother is next in line to take over. I'm grateful to have my older brother. He was always into sports and physical toughness. While I work out and stay in shape, I prefer to focus on books and learning. I plan to become a pack doctor one day. The nearby school needed a chemistry teacher to finish off the year. My dad works closely with the principal there and offered for me to teach for the rest of the year. I just graduated from undergrad with my degree in chemistry and biology. I start medical school in the fall, so I took this opportunity quickly. It will help my brain keep working and get me away from my mother. After parking the car in front of the pack house, I slowly opened the front door. I wanted to talk to my dad first about Sage. I would only go to my mother if he doesn't have answers. I slowly closed the large wooden door behind me. I slowly turned around and stood face to face with my mother. "You're home earlier than I thought. How was your first day? Did you meet any werewolves? Did you meet the one?" she said quickly while I tried to slide away. Ever since I got my wolf at 16, my mother has been hounding me to find my mate. "Finding your father was the best day of my life, and I only want that for you," she would always say. I gave up on finding my mate years ago, but she won't let it go. "My first day was good. No to the werewolves and mate questions," I said as I ran up the stairs. The pack house was the largest building on the pack grounds. It was in the center of the grounds and stood like a castle. There were five floors to the house. The main floor had the living room, kitchen, dining area, communal bathrooms, game rooms, and extra bedrooms for pack members. The second floor was where the Beta and his family lived. The third floor was where my parents lived. The fourth was for my brother, his Luna, and their kids. Finally, the top floor was mine. No one wanted to climb the stairs so it went to me. It has 5 different bedrooms with bathrooms connected to each one. I took the largest room, but the rest just stayed empty. My mother says that the floor won't be so lonely once I find my mate and children. That's only if I find my mate. After changing into some gym clothes, I went to my father's office on the first floor. He was there with my older brother Theo and dad's beta, James. "Sebastian! Home so soon? How was your first day?" my dad said with a smile. Theo came over and gave me a tight hug while lifting me off the floor. While I am 6'3 and muscular enough to have a 6 pack, my brother made me look scrawny next to him. "I missed you so much. You can't leave me here with mom alone again," he said as he held me tightly. Once he finally let me down, I hugged my dad and James. I sat in one of the large armchairs that were displayed in front of my father's desk. "It was an interesting day. If I tell you something, you have to promise to not tell mom," I said with giving a deadly glare to Theo. "What? I'm not gonna tell her anything. Wait! Omg, did you find your mate?" he said a little too loudly. "Shush! Don't be too loud. I'm not sure. Damien says that we found her, but I don't think so. Actually, he isn't so sure either. It's very confusing," I said as I looked back at the office door to make sure it was still closed. "What do you mean you aren't sure? You would know. Trust me. Meeting your mate will send electricity through your whole body. Damien will be jumping for joy and clawing to get to her. You would definitely know," my father said with a confused look. I started to tell them about Sage and the whole situation. I told them how I get little jolts of energy and can faintly feel her emotions. I explained her soft smell that Damien could barely pick up on. I let Damien push forward and explain why he thinks she's our mate. Dad, James, and Theo just listened to us. James wrote some stuff down and said he would be back soon. After talking for what seemed like hours, we heard a knock on the door. It was my mom. "You three have been in here since Sebastian got home. What is going on that is so secretive?" she said with her hands on her hips. My mom is a fierce warrior who could easily take down any man or wolf. "It's nothing dear. Is dinner ready by chance? I'm starving," my father said as he stood up. He knew dinner was ready. It was 6:30. Dinner had to be ready at 6:30 every night. My mom gave us a dirty look then told us to come eat before it gets cold. We all got together at the dinner table. "Uncle Sebastian, did you like human school? I want to go with you tomorrow!" my niece Ellie practically shouted at me as she ran to my side. "It was pretty boring. You would hate it!" I grabbed her and lifted her into my lap. "The whole place smells gross and the food they serve looks like mud" She yelled ew with giggles in her voice. We all talked about our day, and I avoided Mom's questions about the females I met today. James didn't come back for dinner which was unusual. I wonder who he went to see.
