Sage POV
It was time to go to AP chemistry, but I needed to change out my books real quickly. As I closed the locker door, Janie's perfect and punchable face with on the other side.
"Hey girlie! How was your break? Sorry you couldn't come to the big party at the lake house, but I heard you saw photos and videos of it," she said as she twirled a lollipop in her mouth, "I heard that we have AP chemistry together. I hope we can be lab partners. I'll save you a seat in the front row next to me." Her and her minions laughed as they walked off. We used to be best friends. She was captain of the squad, and I was her second in command. My dad always hated her, but I needed her. I didn't have anyone else until I met her. We didn't agree on most things, but she was my friend. She always said that I would lose Daniel if I didn't have s*x with him. She was right. I did lose him, and she snatched him up. I used to do all her homework and let her cheat off of me. I'm assuming she thinks that it'll continue.
As I turned to go to chemistry, I bumped into someone. Their coffee poured down the front of me and burned my skin. "f**k, how hot do you need your coffee?" I yelled loudly before storming to the bathroom. I didn't even look to see who I bumped into. All I saw was his dark brown, wing tipped shoes. I ran to the bathroom and tried to clean myself up as quickly as I could. Thankfully, I always wear dark colors to school. Janie used to throw her drink when she got angry, so I adapted. I cleaned myself up and went to room 326. As I entered the room, every seat was taken except one next to Janie. f**k, she really did this. Suddenly a man at the front of the room stopped writing on the whiteboard and turned around at the sound of the door closing behind me.
"Thank you for showing up. In chemistry, timing is one of the most important factors. I hope you learn to correct your timing," he said as his eyes pierced into me, "I believe there is only one seat left. Please sit down and do not waste anymore time." He said as he turned back to the board. A few kids let out a soft chuckle. I walked and sat next to Janie. It's going to be a long year. After what seemed like forever in silence, our teacher turned back to us.
"Good afternoon. I am Mr. Wilson, your AP chemistry teacher. I will be taking over from where Mr. Dawson left off and finishing the year with you. I am to understand that Mr. Dawson was pretty relaxed in rules and grades," he said as he eyes Janie, "I am not that way. You get the grade your earn. Be in time and do your work." He then started to call roll to make sure everyone was here "Sage Allenster?" he said with a raised eyebrow.
"Here," I softly said and raised my hand. Our eyes met, and the world seemed to stop for a split second.
"Allenster, are you related to Peter Allenster?" he asked while taking off his glasses. His bright blue eyes seemed to shift to black for a split second. My dad's eyes used to shift to black sometimes. He said it was just a genetics thing. Before I could answer, Janie decided to pipe in.
"No, poor Sage here is an orphan. She doesn't have any family except us Wildcats," she said as she gave me a tight side hug. He quickly glanced at her then back to me.
"I asked Sage the question, not you." he continues to stare at me.
"No sir. I don't have any family as Janie said." I looked down at the floor after my response. I always hated announcing that I was alone. I didn't want to tell others or myself. After a moment of silence, he continues to call the names of other students. After a brief review of what we should have learned last semester, class was already over.
"Sage, please stay behind for a moment. We need to talk about your tardiness," he said without even looking at me. Janie and her minions laughed. As they passed me, they shouldered me one after the other. Soon the room was empty
"I'm sorry for asking about family and putting you on the spot. I also noticed that you do not seem to like the girl sitting next to you. It's clear why one wouldn't like her. I will have her moved to the back of the classroom tomorrow. A student should be dropping the class so you don't have to sit next to anyone else." he said without looking at me.
"Thank you sir. I do appreciate it," I said while staring at the floor.
"Don't thank me. I'm not necessarily doing it for you but more for me. I'm pretty sure she was trying to flirt with me." He was clearly not a fan of Janie. I chuckled.
"Don't flatter yourself. She flirts with everyone and will do anything to get her way." I smiled up at him when I said that. He quickly looked towards me, and I looked back at the floor. I heard him walk towards me. My heart started to race and pound faster and faster. Soon I was staring at a pair of brown, fancy shoes.
"That is quite inappropriate. You should be going to your last class. Don't be late again," he said as he walked away. I left out a heavy breath and practically ran to my next class. It was gym and thankfully, the coach took pity on me. She actually stood up for me.
After school, I walked out to my car and saw Mr. Wilson sitting in his car about a row in front of me. I felt like his eyes were following me, watching me. I quickly got into my car and drove off. Once I got home, I ordered pizza and took a bubble bath to relax. These next five months will be rough, but I can do it.
