The Alpha's Daughter
MACYS POV
"Macy?”
“MACY!!”
“Yes?” I asked my best friend Yasmin, who was currently waving her hand frantically in front of my face.
“What is it?” I said, swatting her hand out of the way as I stared at seven balloons currently hanging from my locker door.
“This is the third time this week, what are you going to do?” she asked, slapping a balloon so that it danced back and forth.
What else can I do? I thought as we both continued to stare, my mind finally made up, I reached into the back pocket of my faded black skinny jeans and pulled out a homemade swiss knife that I’d added extra features to, one being an incredibly sharp pin. You may be wondering why? But honestly? why not?
I grinned as I showed no mercy, popping every balloon and making those walking past jump, including a group of girls who screamed. A couple of them clutched their hands over their hearts, turning to glare at me before they proceeded to their lockers, which were located at the other end of the hallway.
Humans I internally tsked.
“If only they could find normal ways to get my attention” I sighed, turning back to Yasmin, as I continued our earlier conversation.
She laughed, flipping her long strawberry blonde hair over her right shoulder, “now that you’re turning 18 in a couple of weeks, all the unmated males are wanting to catch your attention, you’ve gotta give them credit for trying” I nodded,
She had a point. Everyone got excited when they drew close to the legal age because that was when you’d find your mate, the person who was destined for you, the person who would love you unconditionally for all eternity.
That being said. I was certain that when I turned 18, I would not be finding my mate.
As those thoughts invaded my mind, I couldn’t help but think back to when I was seven. My parents, the Alpha, and Luna of the Full Moon pack had been very close friends to the Alpha and Luna of the Blue Crescent pack, which was our neighboring pack only separated by a river. I had grown up with their son and both sets of parents had always hoped that we would be declared ‘mates’ when we became of age, but that dream had been shattered when the entire Blue Crescent pack had been violently slaughtered by rogues, leaving no survivors. My heart had also shattered at the thought of not being able to love the boy with grey eyes and dark hair for the rest of my life. After that incident, I had poured my entire being into becoming the strongest female Alpha, so that my pack would survive with only one leader and so that when my mate watched me from wherever the moon goddess had sent him, he would be proud of the woman I had become.
“Guess what!” a voice whispered into my left ear, making me yelp in surprise as I was pulled from my memories and back into the uni hallway.
“Chelsie Long! don’t do that!” I yelled, clutching my chest, “I nearly punched you!”
“Wow!” she exclaimed, her eyebrows rising and disappearing under her thick dark bangs,
“I was nearly a goner, thank goodness for werewolf healing,” she said sarcastically as she rolled her eyes like a punch wouldn’t do much to her. I guess she’s already forgotten how I’d put her older brother Eddie in the hospital for 3 days, after I had accidentally punched him too hard, breaking two ribs and cracking a third.
Both Chelsie and Yasmin are my ‘so-called’ best friends and when my father passed the Alpha title over to me, Yasmin was set to become my beta and Chelsie to become my gamma, but sometimes I felt like they were the most irresponsible pups I had ever met and at least once a day I would question whether it was a good idea to have them as the chain of command or whether I should have chosen my brother in the first place.
Yes, you heard me correctly, I have a brother who is all about partying, girls, and hanging out with his warrior friends, so my father decided that when the time comes for him to retire, the Alpha title would be passed down to me as I am the oldest and my brother will become the head warrior. Benji didn’t mind though, if anything, he was over the moon about having no responsibilities and being able to do whatever he wanted.
“Alright, now what did you want to tell us?” I said, grabbing my books and leading the way as we headed towards my first class.
“Apparently, there’s a new transfer student this year,” Chelsie replied, walking with a slight skip in her step.
“What do you mean, student? Is this new 'student' not a pup?” I asked Chelsie, who proceeded to shrug her shoulders,
“I don’t know, all Stacey said was that there is a new transfer student and that he is incredibly hot” she gushed,
“Oh really!?” Yasmin’s eyes lit up “I need to see this fine specimen as soon as possible” she declared, raising her tiny fist in the air as if she’d found her new life’s goal.
I sighed, still not believing that these were the people I called my best friends, “Guys, Stacey thinks anything that’s deemed a male is handsome, so I don’t think you should trust her instincts.”
Yasmin’s fist came down to her sides, and a look of disappointment settled on her face, “That’s true. Remember when she called Simon gorgeous? The woman is blind.”
"Eww!" Chelsie said, scrunching up her nose, "does anyone know if he's had his bath this month?"
"Nope" we replied, laughing at Chelsie who has had to sit next to him in Math for 2 years straight.
As we separated at the door to my classroom, I patted her on the back, " Good luck, you'll need it."
“B***h!” she replied before flipping her dark brown hair over her shoulder as both girls headed towards their math class.
