Chapter 1: Dreams & New Beginning
When I felt the stabbing pain in my head, a cloud of dizziness engulfed me and I slowly opened my eyes. I looked around and realized I was lying down on the house's balcony. But how did I get here? And why does my head still hurt so much? The world around me seemed to be in pieces. I tried to stand up, but my head ached once more. I grabbed my head and didn't realize I was hurt until I noticed blood on my hand. I was lost in thought about what had just happened to me when I heard something breaking inside, so I went inside to take a look. I heard a voice calling out to me frantically, "Crest..." With fear in my heart and a sense of dread, I slowly approached him. He was lying on the floor, breathing heavily. When I saw my grandfather's condition, my heart pounded with fear and shock. His breath was shallow and raspy, like that of someone who has just awakened from sleep. "I-I love you, Run..." he said before he died. "Granpa, No! Please... don't leave me" I cried desperately. A man in black, dressed in a hooded dress, appeared by his side. What I saw caused my eyes to widen. His smiling lips are bloody, and his fangs are long, while his face is hidden from view. He is the perpetrator who harmed Grandpa. A Vampire. "Grandpa!" I called out to him and hugged him. I noticed he had a bite on his neck. Grandpa had a pale complexion. He's out of blood. The person who killed my grandfather dragged me away. I tried not to move away from his body by holding him tight, but the man who killed him held me firmly. He was powerful, and I couldn't stand him. "Don't touch me! You monster! You killed my Grandpa! Vampire!" He stopped as soon as he heard what I said and carried me on his shoulder. "Because you're loud, I'm going to kill you as well," the vampire threatened. Tears welled up in my eyes as I realized I couldn't move my entire body. I'm not sure if this is fear. The Vampire leaned over my neck and smiled viciously. He was going to suck my blood from my body, just as he had done to my grandfather. "Grandpa..." I closed my eyes and prepared to die. "CREST!" I jolted awake. Another nightmare from my past. I looked around and realized I'd fallen asleep in class while my professor was lecturing. My professor stood in front of me, both hands on his waist, as my classmates laughed. "She's really weird" "Yeah, is she even sleeping at all? Why would she sleep during class?" Everyone in the class started talking about me again, whispering to each other as if I were not there. "Shut Up!" yelled the professor, and everyone went quiet. I stood up and gathered my belongings. My classmates stopped laughing when they saw me. They will never understand me because they are unaware of my past. I couldn't sleep because I kept dreaming about my grandfather. Those nightmares are a curse. I can't get away from my past. It keeps hunting me. "I'm going to the office, Sir," I said, bowing. "Of course, Crest, that is already your daily routine, right? Sleep during my class and then go to my office every time I catch you. Actually, this is our daily routine, but this time, I won't let you do that anymore." I looked straight at my professor. "Why?" I ask. "Earlier, your guardian came here and said he was going to transfer you to another school." I was not surprised. I know Lucresia did it. She is the one who has been taking care of me ever since I lost my parents and grandfather. I stood up and put all my things inside my bag and walked in front of the classroom door, disappointed. I heaved a sigh, and before I left, I said something to my classmates. My classmates laughed loudly when I said, "Beware of the vampire." They didn't believe me because they thought differently of me at first. However, I knew very well that it was not a fantasy or a myth. It's the truth that the government cannot be exposed or everything on earth will be in chaos. I'm not really this cold, quiet, or weird. Lucresia says I just have to do it so the people who killed my grandfather can't find me. "So... tell me why I am moving schools." When I entered the house, I immediately asked Lucresia. "They found you," she said while preparing everything we needed. "They're always looking for me. Lucresia! I'm tired of hiding! I want to have a normal life! I want to live where I can bring out the real me! " I could no longer restrain myself. I let go of the heavy feelings I'd been carrying and hiding since I was a child. "I'm sorry Lady Crest .. we have to hide your identity. It is for your safety" she said softly. "I really don't know who I am. You're the only one who knows, Lucresia! I don't know myself. All I know is that I have to hide from the vampires and humans who killed my grandfather and my parents. Tell me! Who am I? Who's after me? " She didn't answer me. I clenched my fist and immediately got out of the house and ran into the woods behind the house. Our house is very far from the city. We live almost in the mountains. Lucresia and I are the only ones together. I no longer have parents because the vampires killed them. I don't know what they need from me. With so many people, why does it have to be my family? I hate vampires. They are demons, monsters that kill humans. They are ruthless. I stood up and was about to run when I felt something crackle. I stopped. I felt my surroundings and noticed something weird behind me, so I quickly looked at my back, but I saw nothing. I noticed again that someone was passing by my side, so I looked, but no one was there. I felt the crackle intensify, so I ran home. I felt my heart beating so fast because I could sense that someone was following me. I knew someone was looking at me earlier. I'm not sure if it's just an animal, a human, or possibly a vampire. "I noticed something in the forest," I said breathlessly to Lucresia the moment I entered the house. "Lady Crest, they've found us," Lucresia said worriedly. "W-what are we going to do?" I asked. The dark past of mine where my grandfather died at the hands of a vampire started lingering in my mind. I couldn't stop feeling scared and my hands were trembling. Suddenly, the door of the house broke, so I grabbed Lucresia. Lucresia pulled out her long silver katana from under the table. She became alert to the presence of the monster in front of us. When the wind started to blow up, Lucresia suddenly swung her Katana in front of her and suddenly blood gushed out. "Vampire!" I shouted in fear. The vampire falls to the floor with a bloody chest. When Lucresia was going to hit him again, he quickly moved and avoided the blade. Lucresia asked me to hide behind her. I am worried because she was fighting while protecting me. Lucresia moved to her right and immediately stabbed the vampire in the heart, so it turned to ashes. She pulled me out of the house and ran towards the car. "I have to take you to the Rempire." I wondered what Lucresia said. "Who are the Rempire?" "They are your parents' closest friends. They will protect you, Lady Crest. He will save you. " I was only looking at Lucresia while she was driving at full speed. I didn't understand what she was talking about. Why is she saying this now? "Who?!"
