Chapter 14

Yukino stared into a mirror, a young girl, at the age of seven(almost eight) stared back with her red Phoenix eyes. The girl had a small button nose; rosy lips shaped in a pout; pale, smooth skin, without a single spot of blemish, pimple, or acne. “Waaaa, Yukino is such a pretty person..” Kami snorted at Yukino’s sentence. Kami said with exasperation. Yukino humphed, giving the flying book a scornful look. “You’re the one who’s making me go, at least let me admire myself.” Yukino pinched her cheeks feeling the soft chubby-ness of it.  Yukino glared at the book, full on glared. “Tsk, at least I still have a chest, what about you?” Yukino sneered, “Besides, mine will grow eventually.” Yukino has seen the villainess in her past life from Lily. That girl, Yukino could tell you, had at least size C. Kami was speechless, and shut up, knowing she wouldn’t be able to win an argument with Yukino about this. After a couple of minutes, Yukino did a twirl. She had made a cloak, leggings, and a shirt with her art magic. Yukino nodded in satisfaction, “Alright! I’m ready to go!” Kami grumbled, shifting into a necklace. Yukino ran out of her room after putting Kami around her neck, scaring the living daylights out of the poor maids passing by. “I’m gonna go out and play! I’ll be back by dinner!.... I mean I think I’ll be back by dinner!” Then she disappeared. The fox palace was surrounded by a forest as foxes enjoyed their peace and quiet. The Fox Kingdom was huge for this reason. The palace was also in a way protected with this environment, as it left many wandering souls lost, or the magical creatures inhabiting the forest killed the intruders. Yukino ran and only stopped at a stream. Yes, she was out here because she was bored, but Kami also wanted Yukino to test her powers and physical fighting abilities against real living things, not a programmed enemy.  Yukino took a mouthful of the glittering clear water and chugged it down. “Ahhh, so satisfying! If only I could’ve done this in my previous world, but all that water is seriously polluted.” Yukino shifted around and glanced at the sky. This sky was different from her previous world’s. Even in the day, Yukino could clearly see celestial bodies in the blue sky. It was ominous in a way, yet at the same time, incredibly beautiful. Kami warned. Yukino strained her ears, and indeed she heard the rustling of the grass and fallen leaves. She shifted herself into a fighting position and watched the grass silently. She was a fox. They were natural predators and hunters. In an instant the whole aura around Yukino changed, from a carefree and easygoing one to a cold and pressuring air of a monarch. The snaked attacked and Yukino pounced. Twirling in the air, Yukino used minimal movement and used the dagger she had withdrawn form Kami’s space and easily cut the throat of the snake, killing it instantly. Yukino snorted. “If I didn’t do well, then that’s your fault, cause you didn’t teach me well,” Yukino said as she crouched down and poked the dead snake. “Well, let’s continue hunting!” Just like that Yukino started her hunting spree, completely unaware that someone was watching the entire time.
