Yukino arrived home. The sky had darkened and four moons rose steadily from the east, west, south, and north. At a certain of the night, they will all be at the same place, making it seem like there was only one moon, when it was four. Then they will stay like that till the sun rises soon later.
“Princess, you’re back!” A maid rushed forward and took the cloak from Yukino.
“Um.” The princess have a short reply while looking around, “Where’s mother and father?”
“Ah, there was a child that managed to reach the palace.”
“What?!” Yukino swirled around, looking at the maid whose head was lowered. “How…?”
“We don’t know, but the boy arrived all bloodied and weak.”
“I’m going to see my parents, where are they currently?”
“Princess, her majesty and his majesty told us that no one is allowed in, even you. Their majesties told us to serve you dinner if they have yet to finish.” The maid bowed even lower. Yukino stopped and waved the maid off.
“Just get me some tea, I’ll be waiting in the dining hall.” Yukino turned around and headed towards the dining hall. It was empty and dimly lit, giving an eerie yet calm feeling.
By the dining hall was a room where Yukino and her family normally ate. They didn’t enjoy sitting at a table ten meters long when it was just them. This room was near the back and had a much more comfy feel to it. With couches and armchairs littered around, it gave the royal family something more than just a place to eat. Since the family only meets during dinner, it has also become their place.
Yukino sat down on her armchair as the maid came in carrying a tray with tea. Yukino nodded her thanks as she poured herself a cup. The maid retreated and exited the door.
Yukino stared at the cup of tea, swirling it around gently, enjoying how the water swished around in the porcelain cup.
“Kami.”
“Why didn’t I get notified of the boy entering the forest?” Yukino replied in her mind. Her eyes were still, so unlike the usual her, that when a maid entered she was frightened beyond belief.
“Next time. Warn me.”
Kami was frightened as well, she has never seen Yukino so mad before in her life. Even when her brother, Taiyo, was poisoned.
Yukino also didn’t know why she was so angry. If it were some other day, she wouldn’t have acted like this, but for some reason she felt paranoid. As if something terrible was going to happen. Or as if a tragedy movie just begun to play.
The wheels of fate has started to move, and Yukino felt it.
