Chapter 10

1123 Words
A girl sat on the flower field as she stared up into the sky with an empty expression. Flowers seemed to reach out to her arms as if to comfort her. Bruises and cuts filled her arms, face, and legs, clearly showing the rough times she has been through. Her hands clenched the dirt as her heart filled with hate. A group of three walked towards her, and without a word they sat down, also staring at the sky. One of the girls looked and examined the girl with cuts and bruises, then she simply plopped back onto the ground with a sigh, attracting the attention of the others. **** The night was dark and silent. Even the crickets who were always so active didnt dare let out a chirp afraid that if they do their puny lives would end. The atmosphere was tense even though no one saw anyone or talked to anyone. A single noise though could possibly snap the fragile line that held two kings sane. Guards patrolled, more watchful then ever. Since this night could possibly end their jobs or worse end their lives. Yukino was in her private tent dressing herself in complete black. Her silver hair was tied into a ponytail to avoid any hindrance in her little adventure tonight. Wearing black leggings as well as a black with finished with a black cloak to hopefully cover her face and figure. She put Kami in her necklace form around her neck as she carefully placed her origami hawks and dragons into her clock's pocket.  Then she started to consult with Kami. "Are there any guards nearby?" She asked quietly in her head. Kami replied almost immediately with a yes. "Tell me when they're away." Kami hummed in acknowledgement.   Kami said, not wanting her master to venture into a dangerous unknown forest without any preperation. Yukino fiddled with her origami figures and replied. "I got em.. they also have a barrier around them." If Kami could have nodded she would have. Yukino nodded in agreement. Yukino silently walked towards the flap of her tent, lifting it up she immediately ran in the direction Kami ordered her to. In a couple of minutes, with Kami's instructions, Yukino was in the forest. She then immediately let her three hawks fly. Pulling up three holograms she stared, watching, seeing what the hawks saw. Over the years of practice within Kami's space Yukino's amount of holograms she could have up at once rose to five from one.  However, having five would drain her magic too fast so she stuck with three, which was almost as easy as just having one up, when Yukino asked Kami why, Kami answered that it is because Yukino has gotten used to it. Having five up at once though would inevitably push her limits and possibly ruin her magic forever. Kami said happily. Yukino looked at the screen closely. She looked towards the second screen and immediately saw the flower that looked nearly completely the same as the one Kami showed her. Expect this one was without color. She orderd all the hawks to land while she pulled up another screen. A map that showed the tracks of all the hawks. She looked for the number two and followed that track. When she appeared at the sight, Yukino couldn't help but to widen her eyes in surprise. Sure she saw it in the screen but the hawk had immediately zoomed into the flower the moment Kami spoke. Not only that as she mentioned before it was all black and white. Now she saw where the flower grew she was shocked silly. There was a pond that was sparkling, reflecting the stars and moon. The most green grass Yukino has ever seen filled the ground. Dozens of flowers grew next to the pond on one side of the pond the other side was completely devoid of any flowers. The scene seemed to come out of a fantasy landscape Yukino saw in her previous life. The ones that the Unicorns would be in. Yukino eyes finally managed to peel itself away from the lake and instead search for her hawk. She spotted it immediately perched on a branch as it intensely stared at something. Following its gaze she saw a small golden flower that was on the side non-flower side. Huh, Yukino guess it can't be considered a non-flower side anymore. Kami who had turned into a book the moment she arrived reminded Yukino to scan the flower. Yukino complied and scanned the flower. She watched as the empty page filled itself with words. Alibaonia Corlienia is a rare flower mentioned in several myths and legends. Said to have been able to cure any diseases or injuries it was highly sought out after. However due to how closely it resembles it more common counterpart the Alibaonia Porlienia the search for the flower diminished as the Porlienia is a poisonous flower that could kill within minutes of consumption. Yukino raised her eyebrows. "So we found a legendary flower..." Kami said the same thing twice to emphasize the importance of the flower.   Kami was getting inpatient. This place gave her a chill and she wanted to leave as soon as possible. "Okay, okay" Yukino also felt the same as Kami so she went to get the flower. However, just as she was about the pluck the flower a roar made her instinctively move back. A huge serpent rose from the pond, making its peaceful waters splash violently. Its narrowed golden eyes stared at Yukino and the flying book. It let out a hiss, sounding very annoyed as if she disturbed his peaceful rest. Yukino wanted to cry, but she couldn't. She knew getting such a rare flower couldn't be easy. So what else could she have been expecting? A stroll in the park? Yukino snorted on the inside. Yukino resisted the urge to throw Kami into the mouth of the serpent. "Well, no ship sherlock."
