"I don't really know."
Damn it!
Chase had been confused about how did Lola manage to go to the hall from that mountain. And where the hell did she get the blood? He could only figure it out when he went back to his mansion.
He left the apartment building and drove back to his mansion instantly. When he got into the door, Mr. Smith went to him instantly, "Sir! Kevin is missing!"
"What?" Chase went frozen. How did Kevin go missing? Did that woman take him with her?
"Go find out how did she walk from the mountain to the hall and where did she get the blood…"
"Sir… I think Kevin got the blood. But I don't know how did Miss Swain walk to the mansion…"
"Kevin did that?" Chase's face darkened. Lola Swain! It must be that woman. She must be the one who told his Kevin to do that. How could she do this under his nose? Chase's fists clenched on his sides. He wanted to kill her.
Meanwhile, Lola threw herself against the couch after moving all the things into her new apartment, her feet hurting like hell. It took her a while to call a taxi from the hospital. Chase must have known that she had escaped from the hospital. She wondered if he was gonna hunt her down across the city again. Besides, she even brought Kevin with her this time.
"Mommy, don't worry. Daddy won't find you," Cole tried to comfort her. Kevin was carrying a box into the room. When he heard what Kevin call Lola, he suddenly went frozen.
"What… What did you just call her?" His wide eyes were boring into Lola's face. Lola didn't expect that to happen. Cole stuck his tongue out, knowing he should have been more careful.
But… it didn't matter. Kevin would get to know this one day anyway. Cole turned to look at Kevin, "I called her mommy because she is our mommy."
"Mommy?" Kevin stared at Lola as if he was in shock.
Lola was so nervous. She didn't know how would Kevin react. She looked at the boy sheepishly, "Kevin, I'm sorry."
"Are… Are you really my mommy?"
Lola nodded eagerly.
"Why did you leave me? Is it because I'm a sick kid? You don't like me? That's why you don't want me?" Kevin's eyes went red.
"Kev, Mommy had no choice back then, okay?" Lola sucked in a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, "I didn't mean to leave you behind… I'm so sorry…"
Kevin went frozen. For so many years, he had been dreaming about holding Mommy's hand and asking her why did she abandon him. Thinking of that, his little fists balled up, his tears rolling down on his cheeks. It broke Lola's heart to see her boy crying. She wanted to hold him in her arms. She shot up from the couch, but the huge pain from her feet made her fall.
"Mommy, you're okay?" Cole stared at Lola with concern.
"I'm fine," saying that, Lola looked at Kevin again. Kevin just stood there in a trance. Cole understood both of them. So he walked toward Kevin, "Mommy loves you so much. She didn't mean to leave you. Don't blame her, okay?"
Kevin still didn't say anything. So Cole continued, "She went to the mansion to treat your illness. She tried everything to make you feel better even Daddy was mean to her. She even hurt her feet because of you. Kevin, Mommy really loves you."
