His words felt obscene and slimy. She almost let her emotions get the best of her. Sueli had already started to crumble but Josey needed to know more.
“What do you mean?”
“I shouldn’t have said that. I apologize. Please forget about it.” Valin then stood up.
“Valin. I wouldn’t mind hearing your problems every now and again. You know, us royals have to stick together.”
Valin grimly smiled back at her and nodded. “Go home. Get some rest, the next two weeks are going to be really busy.”
Josey watched as he walked off. The visions were starting to make sense. Something happened that changed his view on love.
“Let’s go home.” Josey quietly spoke into the darkness. She thought about allowing Fedri to pursue her. He was smart, handsome, and she was sure they had a lot in common. It almost felt dirty to have an affair with a commoner. “How could you think that Josey?” Sueli cried out.
“Let’s talk about it later.”
Josey hurried towards their room. It was time they had a serious talk about the future.
As soon as they crossed over, Josey's room turned dark. The smell of tar and blood wafted through the room.
“Tell me! What is there to talk about Josey!” Sueii screeched.
“f**k! I don’t know!” Josey yelled in the darkness.
“What if we can’t get him back? Then what? I die and you have to live in the dream realm?” Josey said angrily.
“Are you ready to spend your every moment invading dreams and f*****g random men!!!!? UH!”
“You promised!I don’t care how hopeless you think this is. You promised.” Sueli broke down again. The dark clouds that poured out of Josey started to dissipate as she fell to her knees. The look on his face would hunt her dreams.
She didn’t bother to ring for Shion. She slipped out of her shoes, then laid in the bed fully clothed.
“Sueli? Thanks for letting me drink tonight.”
“I know you needed it. The babies didn’t taste a drop. So don’t worry.”
“I want us to be together forever. I’m scared of losing both of them and you. We are hoping Valin will love us again and we have someone who loves us just as much already.I miss him.” Black tears ran from Josey’s eyes as she held her belly and fell asleep in the fetal position.

Shion quietly maneuvered through Josey’s room, there were a few things she needed to put into her hiking bag that were in her primary clothing room. She didn’t want Josey to go on this trip, especially after the vision and now Josey's arguments with her succubus. Hearing her and her succubus argue was always frightful. Some of those times, Sueli’s voice was so distorted she didn’t understand how Josey could even bear to listen. The sound made Shion's soul waver and vibrate. It was unsettling to say the least. [That’s my queen.] She smiled. She loved everything about Josey including her psychotic arguments with herself.
“Shion?” Josey asked towards the blurred body in the distance.
“Yes my queen. I apologize if I woke you.”
“No. no. I woke up on my own.” Josey pulled herself up in an upright position. Her twins were definitely showing themselves. She couldn’t believe she was almost 6 months pregnant. Her time in this world was getting shorter. She didn’t even know if Cofer would be back in time to say goodbye to her. The thought of dying without him by her side caused a flood of emotions and tears.
Shion moved to hug her then stopped, “May I hug my queen?”
“Yes..please..”
Shion sat on the bed and pulled Josey into her arms. She almost forgot how young she was. Unlike her and Cofer, Josey was actually twenty-one. She was an infant in vampire years. After a couple of minutes, Shion pulled away.
“My queen. I know there's a struggle within but I believe you are strong enough and smart enough to reconcile it. “
Josey nodded. She couldn’t give up yet. She looked up at Shion and her stomach growled, echoing through her bedroom. The ladies laughed. “I will run down and pick up your breakfast.”
“Wait. Start the shower first and take my hair down. I feel really dirty.”
“Yes, my queen.”
Josey didn’t want to take a bath. Bath time only made her get lost in her thoughts. She just wasn’t in the mood for life. That day and the next 10 days she would immerse herself in her work. For all she knew, Cofer had been gravely injured and he was never coming back to her. “s**t! Shut up!” Josey grunted to herself. That was one of the many things she did not want to think about right now. Shion came out of the bathroom and started taking down Josey’s hair.
While she stood under the running water she started trying to fill her mind with positive thoughts. She ran her hand through her hair and almost jumped out of her skin. Her horns ascended. “What's going on?” Usually she controlled whether her tail, wings, or horns were visible. She closed her eyes and imagined her horns sinking into her mind's eye. [There.] Josey completed washing up and left the bathroom.
For this trip she planned on leaving her hair in two large braids.
“I put together a little fridge of meals for you. I marinated some steak in the finest quality blood in Nethersigh. Please eat that first. Don’t want it to go to waste. There are also ham chops and your favorite meals in there, just in case. And Josey..” Shion finished her last braid and leaned forward. “Don’t forget we are linked. If you call for me, I will be at your side within 30 minutes or less.”
“Thanks Shion.” Josey smiled. Shion was really the best.
Shion pulled Josey’s stuff through the portal and then walked out of the room to retrieve the twins per Josey’s instructions. The twins came in and picked up her luggage and started towards the meeting area in by the transporter in front of the king’s palace. When they arrived, Josey confirmed that Fedri and Alex had moved the remaining inventory to the storage that was purchased. There was only one dimensional transporter in the west, so the storage was close by there first stop.
“Queen Sueli.”
“Valin? Are you traveling with us?”
“No but I will join you all before you travel to the far west. There is no way I can let you go into such a dangerous area without taking a hundred percent responsibility for you. “He chuckled then continued, “Hell, Cofer may still kill me. So at least I can say I tried right?”
“You’re not wrong. “Josey started to laugh along with him.
Valin pulled out the map and showed Josey where he would come out.
“Since this DT has not been installed, I’m depending on you all to make sure I can be by your side.”
“Yes sir!” The team yelled.
They walked through the DT and their installation project was moving forward full steam ahead.
Adiv and Liv rotated guarding the hardware from day to day. They stayed in small hotels close to the installation points. When she woke up in the mornings she was met with beautiful bouquets of flowers picked specifically from the area. Fedri was not letting up. It was pretty obvious that he wanted to be by her side.
“When are you going to reject him?” Sueli snarled.
“After we have found out why Valin is depressed and rejecting his love for us. We may need Fedri if we can’t fix this situation.” Josey replied back to her.
“I understand.”
The week was passing by quickly and every morning along with the bouquets Josey had to conceal her tail or her horns. Her human soul was definitely losing control over their vessel.
Her fridge was starting to run low on fruity cream cheese and cucumbers. She found herself getting easily irritated. On occasions she almost asked Liv or Adiv to hold her hand.
Everything was making her angry.
"Valin wasn’t joking the territory in the west was severely unstable." Josey said to Fedri. But her new designed DTs would withstand submersion and even send a signal when it was not able to rise back to the surface.
With two days left in their trip, Valin would be arriving at the hotel that evening. They completed there last install for the day and headed back to the hotel. Tomorrow, they had planned to take a day off. The trip to the area would take them 2 hours by car and then 1 hour by boat.

The journey back home went smoothly. He was able to get through the riff in his smoke form without being attacked or defending himself. He had to stop and rest for the last leg of the trip. His determination to make it home to her was stronger than ever.
When he arrived back in Nethersigh, he could feel a level of despair among the people. They were having a hard time looking directly at him. Some of them struggled to smile in his direction. He was sure he wasn’t the only one who had that dream about Josey. He needed to reconnect their link. He couldn’t go another day without being in her presence.
He entered his home and was met by Lincoln. Lincoln bowed deeply. “I am happy you made it back safely my king.”
He couldn’t feel Josey even while in their home. [We can’t be completely disconnected, right?] “Where’s Josey?”
Lincoln swallowed hard. There was a strange, dangerous aura emanating from Cofer. “My king, she is on a business trip in Wilshana. We don’t expect her back for another 4 days.
Cofer’s eyes glowed brightly as he laughed from deep down in his belly. “Just f*****g great. I almost killed myself getting here as fast as I could and she’s not even here. Oh well. Clean my luggage and have a bath prepared. I will be heading to Wilshana in the morning.”
