AMORA'S POV
“Ring, ring!" My phone dragged me out of the only thing close to peace I've had in days; sleep. And to top it all, it was a dreamless sleep.
My hand searched the bed for my phone with my eyes still closed. I found it and it was still vibrating.
“What?” Was the first thing I said into the phone, irritation was very evident in my voice.
“Amora Winters, are you still on your bed?" That voice sounded so familiar that I had to forcefully open my eyes.
It was Bridget, “No, I was just busy." I lied into the phone.
" You better be. Have you made breakfast for your husband this morning? Oh, sorry, your fake husband.”
I bit down my lips to stop the words that bubbled up my throat as a response.
“Yes.” I mumbled.
"Good. Make sure you treat him well so the time Thea is back, there won't be anything out of place, take that marriage like you are preparing him for Thea.”
Like I'm just some object meant to replace the original product or what? I've never felt this worthless and downgraded and I think I've had enough of her.
“I'm not your puppet whom you can boss around, put that in your f*cking mind!" And I ended the call.
She can't just wake me up from sleep and order me around like she wishes, I'm not anyone's slave!
My phone rang a couple of times more and I had to stand up out of frustration. I really needed some fresh air or I'm going to go crazy.
I left my phone in my room and changed into comfortable pants and a top. I took my wireless headphone along with me and jogged downstairs without even checking what time it was.
I regretted my actions immediately because the person I've been trying to avoid for days now was downstairs, he was sipping on his coffee like he does every morning.
“Good morning." I greeted and walked past him.
“Where do you think you're going?" His voice stopped me before I could open the door.
“To jog."
“You're going out to jog dressed this way? Have you forgotten so soon that you're a married woman to everyone out there?” He asked, standing up from the chair he was sitted on.
I turned around to face him, “There's nothing wrong with what I'm putting on.”
His eyes shamelessly raked over my body before he brought back his eyes up to my face, he cleared his throat.
“You know what? I don't care if you put on nothing, just make sure your face is covered so no one recognizes you.” He stormed up the stairs with a clenched jaw.
Why does he look so angry if it really was nothing. I shrugged it off, that's none of my business, it's his headache and not mine.
I walked into the kitchen to check if I'd see Crystal. "Good morning Crystal.” Luckily, she was there.
"Morning, Amora. Did you sleep well?” She asked without taking her eyes off what she was cooking.
“I did. Do you have a nosemask I can use anywhere around here?”
That was when she looked at me, her eyes also raked over my body.
“You're going out to jog? You'd see nosemasks in the upper compartment of the drawers in the living room.”
"Thank you.”
I checked where she directed me to check and found packs of nosemasks, I took three. You never can tell if I'd need more than one.
I jogged out of the house immediately with cool music blasting in my ears. The cool morning breeze kissed my sun as I stepped into the busy city of Amsterdam.
The frustration in me ebbed down after I had jogged round the whole city. While jogging, I thought about my future, my plans and aspirations.
I'm meant to be preparing for my master degree right now and not being a substitute bride to a snobby billionaire.
I'd really need to start working or Pursue my masters degree like I wanted to. My father and I aren't on good terms at all, but he makes sure I get educated to whatever level I want.
It was almost noon when I got back home, my legs ached so badly that I thought I wouldn't be able to use them anymore.
“Where have you been?!” Crystal yelled immediately as I entered the house.
"Where else?" I could barely respond because of how hard I was panting, my chest heaved heavily as I sat down on the bare floor gasping for breath.
“Oh dear. I'll go get you water." She ran towards the kitchen while I grip my chest.
She was back by my side in no time, handing over the water to me, I gulped it down at a single time.
Even after drinking the water, I was still not breathing well. I'm really out of shape then if I can't run a few laps without feeling like I'd collapse.
I made a mental note to do more exercise from now on.
“We've been searching everywhere for you, you weren't picking your calls either!" She exclaimed.
I looked at her weirdly, I did tell her that I was going out to jog, it's not like I was kidn*pped or something.
“Why?" I managed to ask.
“Because you're a married woman and you shouldn't be running around the city aimlessly." A very deep voice answered me instead.
It's none other than Evans and he looked mad, like really mad.
I took in a deep breath and exhaled again for three times in a row, standing up from the ground.
“Excuse you, I'm married doesn't mean I'm going to confine myself here." I shot back at him.
"Excuse us, crystal.” He ordered her and she left us alone.
“What were you saying about confinement again?” He stepped closer to me like he was trying to intimidate me but I stood my grounds.
“Why are you even dragging this? You said you didn't care if I went out or not, as long as my face was covered , which I did."
“Because someone sent pictures of you in a bar!”
