CHAPTER 5

CHAPTER 5 Theo watched as Sophie left the office, feeling a mix of emotions. He couldn't deny that there was something about her that intrigued him, but he was too stubborn to admit it. As he sat at his desk, he found himself thinking about her more and more. He tried to push her out of his mind, but her image kept popping up, as if she was taunting him. He tried to remind himself that she was just an employee, but he couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more there. Theo didn't like the way Mark had been flirting with her. It made him feel possessive and territorial, even though he had no right to feel that way. He didn't want anyone else looking at Sophie in that way, and the thought of her with another man made him feel angry and jealous. But as he thought about it more, he realized that it wasn't just about jealousy. There was something about Sophie that he found intriguing, something that he couldn't quite put his finger on. He had to admit that she was attractive, with her long hair and sparkling eyes, but it was more than just physical attraction. He found himself wanting to know more about her, to understand her better. He couldn't deny that he was curious about her past, her interests, and her personality. But he also knew that he couldn't act on those feelings. He was her boss, and it would be inappropriate to pursue anything with her. As Theo thought about Sophie, he realized that he needed to get his priorities straight. He had been so caught up in his work and his money that he had forgotten about the things that really mattered in life. He needed to find a way to balance his career with his personal life, to make time for the things that really mattered. But as he looked out the window and watched Sophie disappear into the night, he knew that it wasn't going to be easy. She had stirred something within him, something that he couldn't ignore. He didn't know what it was yet, but he knew that it was going to change everything. Theo woke up the next day feeling exhausted and uninterested in going to work. He couldn't stop thinking about Sophie and the way she had been on his mind constantly since he had met her. He knew he needed to get a grip on his emotions before they got out of hand. Just as he was about to get up and start his day, his mother called and said she was coming over. Theo sighed, knowing that his mother would never let up on her constant nagging about his love life. She had been pushing him to get married for years, and it was always a topic of conversation whenever they spoke. When his mother arrived, she immediately launched into her usual tirade about how he needed to find a good woman and settle down. Theo tried to tune her out, but it was impossible. His mother had a way of getting under his skin and making him feel like a failure. His father was there too, sitting quietly and nodding along with everything his wife was saying. Theo couldn't help but feel a pang of pity for his father, who seemed to have given up on fighting back against his mother's constant nagging. As the day wore on, Theo couldn't shake the feeling that he needed to make a change in his life. He had been so focused on work and money that he had forgotten about the things that really mattered, like family and love. He knew he needed to find a way to balance his career with his personal life, but he didn't know where to start. The thought of Sophie came back to him, and he couldn't help but wonder if there was something there. He knew it was risky to get involved with an employee, but he couldn't deny the way she made him feel. Maybe it was time to take a chance and see where things could go. But for now, he had to deal with his mother's nagging and try to figure out how to balance his work and personal life. It was going to be a challenge, but he was determined to find a way. As the day wore on, Theo's mother continued to push him about his love life. She even went so far as to set him up on a date with the daughter of one of her friends. Theo groaned inwardly at the thought of going on a blind date, but he didn't want to upset his mother. The date was set for the following week, and Theo spent the next few days dreading it. He couldn't imagine spending an entire evening with someone he didn't know, making small talk and pretending to be interested in her life. It was the last thing he wanted to do. Despite his reservations, Theo couldn't help but think about Sophie. He found himself constantly checking his phone for messages from her, even though he knew it was unprofessional. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was something there between them, even though they had barely spoken. The day before the blind date, Theo received an unexpected phone call from Sophie. She sounded nervous, and he could tell she was struggling to get her words out. Finally, she blurted out that she had accidentally deleted an important document and needed his help to retrieve it. Theo was relieved to have an excuse to see Sophie outside of work. He told her he would swing by her apartment on his way home and help her recover the document. He hung up the phone, feeling a strange mixture of nerves and excitement. As he drove to Sophie's apartment, Theo couldn't help but think about the chemistry between them. He had never felt such a strong connection with someone before, and he knew he needed to explore it further. When he arrived at Sophie's apartment, she let him in and they sat down at her computer. It didn't take long for Theo to retrieve the deleted document, but they ended up chatting for hours afterwards. They talked about everything from work to their personal lives, and Theo found himself opening up to Sophie in a way he never had before. As he left her apartment that night, Theo felt a sense of clarity. He knew he had to take a chance on Sophie, even if it meant risking his career. He couldn't deny the way she made him feel, and he was determined to see where things could go between them.
