"Katy, dumating na ba si Mr. Gonzales?" Tanong ko sa isa sa mga receptionist ng gym ko.

Mr. Gonzales was one of our special case clients here at the gym. Inatake ito sa puso dati kaya in-advise ng doctor nito ang pag-e-exercise para maiwasan nang maulit pa ang nangyari dito. "Yes, Boss Steve." Sagot nito matapos i-check ang log sa computer.

"Sabi sa akin ni Dr. Pamintuan, pwede na daw nating i-adjust ‘yung exercise repertoire niya. Paki-inform na lang si Mr. Gonzales."

"Okay po, Boss."

I roamed my eyes around the gym. Kahit gabi na ay marami pa ring tao ang nagwo-work out. This was the main branch. At sa ngayon ay may tatlong branches na ako all over Manila.

We provide high-class treatment to our clients. We have high-end equipment available for use anytime and if they want to apply for our fitness programs, we have highly-trained fitness instructors available to coach them.

At hindi lang regular workout gamit ang equipment ang inooffer namin. I had just recently added classes for yogas and martial arts. We have legit yoga and black belt instructors.

Pagkamatay nang mga magulang ko, huli na nang mapag-alaman kong sinimot ni Tita Geraldine at ni Tito Joseph ang lahat ng ari-arian namin. Mga pag-aaring pinaghirapan nila Mama at Papa.

Overnight, I turned from prince to pauper. Iyon ang sabi ng iba. It was a tragedy. Sa isang iglap nawala sa akin ang lahat.

For a while, I thought living was pointless. I became wasted. There was a point I was so depressed I wanted to die.

That's when I met people who made me realize the meaning of life.

Hindi ko kinayang tustusan ang pag-aaral ko sa mamahaling unibersidad na pinag-aaralan ko noon kaya’t napilitan akong tumigil sa pag-aaral at maagang magtrabaho. Also, I had to look for a job so I could feed myself. And the job that I found was very much related to my interest. I was the athletic type. And a friend of a friend referred a job to me as a fitness instructor.

My salary as an instructor back then was enough for an average way of living.
