Chapter one - Lost in the Woods.
*I'll be back as soon as we are done there, I promise*" Estella expressed tearfully as she gave her best friend, Lyra, one last hug. "You better return to me safe and sound. I don't know what I'll do without you here," Lyra replied, embracing her mute friend tightly. Estella basked in the warmth of the Hug, her wolf purring in contentment. Both women had known each other ever since they were little when Lyra's parents took Estella in after the tragic death of her parents. They weren't just friends, they were sisters. "Stay safe and come back to me," Lyra repeated softly. She was the big sister. The loud Horn of the car behind had them pulling away from one another, and Estella quickly grabbed her small bag and raced over to the car. She waved Lyra a small goodbye before climbing to the back of the car and shutting the door. "You've wasted enough of my time, Estella. I ought to bash your head against the car window," Alpha Eric growled from the driver's seat, staring daggers at her through the rearview mirror. Estella met his eyes fiercely but remained silent. "You're still stupid enough to disrespect your Alpha. Your head really does need some bashing," Olivia said from the passenger seat, glancing behind at Ella, "That's right," Her lips curved into a wicked smirk, "Remain silent. The Moon Goddess knew exactly what she was doing when she made you a mute!" Pain swept down Ella's chest, making her throat heavy with a lump. The car started and they drove out of the vicinity, away from their Pack lands and away from the north. Alpha Eric Viktor ruled the Sabertooth Pack of the north, Known for their fierceness and independence amongst other Packs in the nation. He's known as one of the strongest Alphas alive, and his wife, Olivia Raven, is the daughter of Alpha Nathan Raven of the East. Eric had been mated to Ella but had rejected her in front of the whole pack about two months ago, the same night he had married and marked Olivia, claiming her as his chosen mate. Ella had felt a pain like no other that night, because Eric was the same man she had given her heart to, even before she found out they were mates. She had not only helped him for almost ten years to make the Sabertooth Pack into what it was today, but she had also put her life in danger so many times. She had worked multiple times behind the scenes, most times in training the younger ones and also, treating those with fatal injuries. But the moment Olivia stepped into the picture, he chose her in a single breath and became rude toward Ella. And his rudeness and viciousness only grew as the days passed. Ella could never forgive or forget the betrayal she had passed through, only because she was just a regular werewolf. Now that his pack was undeniably one of the strongest, he had only little use for her. And one of those little uses was her extraordinary abilities when it came to treating others. People have always told her her hands had a secret touch to them, and even though she was like every other wolf doctor, they claimed her patients usually heal faster than normal. And that was the exact reason why Eric had made her accompany him to the Confluence. The Confluence was a certain event that was held every once a year, where all Alphas met to discuss something so important that it could not just be done through calls or small meetings. The Confluence is also held for members of different packs to converge and find their mates, but this time...it was specifically for the Alphas. And the reason behind it was because of the Millennial Blessed Luna. According to the werewolf seeress, the Blessed Luna would be revealed to everyone on the night of this year's confluence. The blessed Luna is a special werewolf that is blessed by the Moon Goddess amongst other werewolf. She is said to be picked every once in a thousand years and possesses extraordinary healing powers, incredible leadership and strength... but most importantly, the blessed Luna has the power to control other werewolves...Vampires too. Ella didn't know much about what the last part meant, and she honestly didn't care. She was more focused on not letting herself get bullied by Eric or Olivia. Ella has never been to the confluence before. Most reasons for visiting the confluence was to find a mate, but she found hers in her Pack and was rejected. What still bothered her was the stupid mate bond that still tugged at her insides, pulling her toward Eric - because even though it had been broken, there were still remnants of it that refused to leave but it seems Eric felt it less since he has marked another. So as much as she hated everything about him, she was still unapologetically enamoured by him. The stupid feeling...was something she would do anything to get rid of. It was so bad that if he came up to her and kissed her right now, she would most likely pull him closer. It was making her run insane! Is she supposed to live like this for the rest of her life?! They remained on the road for almost two days, and Ella watched as they drove by many cities. Boarding a plane would have been so much easier and faster, but Eric considered travel by road...safer. Being on the ground, he would be able the monitor his surroundings much closer, after all, he has enemies who wants him dead. A few more hours and the car came to a halt. The three of them alighted, and Ella gazed around her. It was mid-afternoon, and they had driven deep inside the forest. "What are you doing?" Eric glared at her. She frowned, *What?* She expressed using sign language. "Throw some goddamn branches over the car. You really are wasting my good time!" He snapped, eyes boring into hers with unsaid threats. *If you're that worried, why not do it yourself?* She shot back at him, her eyes meeting his sharply. "How dare you, you b***h! How dare you speak to your Alpha that way?!" Olivia barked at her. *He's not my Alpha!* She spat back. Layla raised her palm and tore a dirty slap on Ella's face. Ella's face whipped to the side, and her cheekbone cracked a bit from the impact of the hit, "You will talk and treat your Alpha with disrespect. You hear me?!" Ella eyed Layla dangerously, spitting venom back at the Alpha's daughter right before she returned the slap with an even more powerful one. Layla stumbled back, holding her face with shock as horror overwhelmed her. Even Eric was taken aback. *Touch me again and I will bash your head all over the place!* Ella said before she sent a warning glare to the Alpha standing across her. She was pretty sure if he decided to kill her right now, she would stand no chance against his overwhelming strength. But then again, she wouldn't mind if he wanted to kiss her instead...Curse this mate bond! "Estella!" He raged, but Ella turned around and began to walk away. She knew Eric wouldn't lay a hand on her, and even if he did, he would dare to hurt her that much knowing how important she was to him and the Pack. She wanted to scream back at him to f**k off, but her windpipes refuses to comply with her. Estella was lost in thoughts as she went her way, stepping deeper into the forest. She would have left the pack two months ago after the heartless rejection she had faced, but Lyra was the only reason she was still in the Sabertooth Pack. It didn't even help that after the rejection, a lot of the pack members had begun looking down on her, making her feel like she didn't belong there anymore. Maybe she really didn't belong with the Sabertooths anymore. Maybe she needed to find her own path as a she-wolf. Maybe there's some other pack out there that would take her in and not make fun of her being a mute or a rejected she-wolf. Thirty minutes into her walk, Estella realized something. She had no idea where she was going, or where the confluence was taking place exactly. She had heard Eric saying during the ride that it was a thirty-minute walk from the confluence to where they would leave the car, so that meant she was completely lost now. Focusing her wolf senses, she tried to listen out for any form of noise, one from a crowd of wolves but the only thing she heard were the critters and animals in the forest. And of course, the sound of her own breathing. Suddenly, Ella held her breath and froze in place. She hadn't noticed it before because it was so subtle, but there was someone...or something watching her keenly. Her hair stood on its ends, and she tried to control her breathing but it spiked a bit. This...was the feeling of being a prey. Estella has had many adventures before, and this wouldn't be the first time she was getting ambushed, but she has never been this scared for her life before. Even without seeing who it was, she could feel the overpowering aura and the presence of something sinister. Estella's wolf snarled, staring closely at her environment. "Right here, little wolf," A crusty voice said from behind her, and she whirled around to see a man standing there. A... werewolf? No, he was an Alpha! The Adrenaline rush had her replying before she knew it, *Come closer and find out if I'm little* She expressed, a little hesitantly as she took a long look at the man in front of her. He was naked, and she tried to keep her eyes above his navel. His long dark hair was tied to the back of his neck while some were roughly tucked behind his ear. He looked dangerously handsome, like one of the Dark lords Ella had read only in books. No, he was probably even more good-looking with the features he had that were rendering her speechless. Was this man carved specially by the Moon Goddess or what? How can someone's eyes be as dark and endless as a void, yet as beautiful as the night sky? Plus, he was tall and muscular...with muscles ripping from every corner of his beautiful body. But then, what the hell was this mysteriously dark essence about him? "Hmm," a guttural sound rumbled up his throat. His face remained neutral, but he kept staring at her as if he was taking in every bit of detail. Finally, Ella broke the strange but captivating hold he had on her and took a step back, aiming to add as much distance between them as possible. "You're lost," He said, but she remained silent. He continued, speaking so casually as if this wasn't the first time they were meeting each other, "I'll take you to the confluence. That's why you're here," How did he know that? "That's why I'm here too," He added, as if he had just read her mind. What the hell? Then, he turned around and began walking away. The moment he turned, Ella caught sight of the magnificent tattoo that was all over his back. It was the tattoo of the face of an attacking wolf, blinded in one eye with a scar running through the closed eye. This...was his Pack symbol. She had only heard about them but had never come across any of them before. That symbol was the tattoo of the Alpha Pack... They are known for their dominance, resilience, ruthless nature, unpredictability...and for their Alpha, who is rumoured to have crossed paths with the devil, now possessing demonic powers.
