A twig snapped up front, pulling Ella out of her wandering thoughts. The Alpha stood there, but this time he was wearing shorts. She didn't even hear him move, and she was very sure he had been naked seconds ago.
His eyes remained neutral, "Walk with me, little wolf," He commanded with authority, making Ella shiver.
She had used sign language to talk with him earlier, so she tried it again, *Are you really taking me to the confluence?*
He watched her fingers move, and then, his brows creased. Why was he frowning? She wondered.
"Let's go," He only said, and started to walk away again.
Ella bit her lips, given no choice but to follow behind him. She watched his back as he led her through the dense forest, thinking about how he wasn't exactly what she had imagined. From everything she had heard about the Alpha Pack, the least she expected from any of them was for them to render their help to her...and that is why she couldn't fully trust this man.
Pushing those thoughts aside, her eyes drank in every bulge and inch of his back. He was twice as big as her, and attractive as hell. Ella had thought she would never find another man as good-looking as Eric, but the Moon Goddess had proven her wrong again. Not only was she admiring his body...she was also, weirdly, drawn to him too.
It made no sense. Was she supposed to feel this way toward another man when she's already found her mate?
They walked for less than thirty minutes before Ella's ears began to pick up the noise from a crowd coming upfront. A few minutes later she was standing atop a small cliff, and below were tents that had been set up...and werewolves from different packs moving about.
Since this was an important gathering, the Alphas had decided to keep all grudges and hatred aside, making the confluence a neutral ground. This also allowed everyone to interact freely with one another.
As Ella studied the place, she saw the tent of the Sabertooth pack with the Pack symbol of the teeth of a wolf sewn to the bodies of the tent. Alpha Eric and every other member had a symbol imprinted on their chest, including her.
Then, Ella looked around for the Alpha who had brought her here. He was already on his way down, and she quickly ran over to catch up to him.
Unable to call out to him, she overtook him instead to draw his attention to her. She breathed softly, forcing a smile on her face as she met his apathetic eyes, *Thank you for bringing me here. I would have still been wandering about if you hadn't helped*
He didn't say anything for a while, making her more nervous than she already was.
Maybe it was time she left him alone.
*Alright then, I'll be off to my Pack* She added, feeling quite awkward.
Ella pushed her legs to move. She was holding in a huge breath, not being able to breathe the whole time she was speaking to him. But before she could walk away, he said something, "You're aware that we are mates, right? If I transform into a full wolf right now, the bond will activate," The depths of his voice was so much. Almost enchanting.
Ella was dumbstruck. She simply blinked at him, wondering if she had heard him right.
But then, he quietly walked away from her.
As Ella walked over to their tent, she was confused. A part of her kept telling her she heard him wrong, while the other was just terrified. Her legs were trembling, with the possibility that she actually had a second chance mate...that the Moon Goddess had actually taken pity on her.
Halfway to her destination, Ella stopped walking and looked to the direction of the tent. Passionate sounds were coming from there, and there was no doubt that it was Olivia's voice.
Ella rolled her eyes, admittedly embarrassed about it. Seriously? They couldn't even hold themselves till the confluence had ended? At this rate, everyone would find out the Alpha of the Sabertooth was letting his guard down. Just because this was a neutral ground doesn't mean he shouldn't be on guard.
Sighing, Ella found somewhere else she could settle down. Good thing she had her backpack with her. There was a bunch of rocks by the side, which seems to have fallen there due to a rock slide. They were big enough, and so she sat down on them and leaned back on the other.
It wasn't comfortable, but it wasn't so bad either.
From that position, she could see the whole gathering. Her eyes searched for a tent with a wolf's head as their symbol, but she couldn't find it amidst the rest. She then resorted to looking for the Dark Alpha himself, but he was nowhere to be found too.
Hmm...did he leave already?
"Sabertooth, what are you doing here?!" A masculine voice barked behind her, and Ella turned around to see someone lying there. How did she not notice him before?
The figure slowly stretched into a sitting position, and glanced at her, "I asked you a question, Sabertooth!" He demanded harshly, keeping his death glare on her.
Ella sighed again. Judging from the intensity of his presence and the way he stared at her like she was a worm on the floor, he was either a powerful beta or an Alpha.
She's already met two of his types before and could now say that they were full of themselves.
Another sigh escaped her lips, then she shifted her eyes from him and focused on the gathering again. She couldn't care less who he was, and she knew he wouldn't attack her here at the confluence. Ignoring him was the best solution.
And maybe it was because she had faced the Dark Alpha earlier, but there wasn't a single drop of fear in her.
Ella heard him walk down to her, but she continued to ignore even as his footsteps stopped next to her. She could imagine him fuming down at her. He was probably dying to step on her, like Alpha Eric.
"Alpha!" Someone called from below, and Ella looked down to see a woman with short dark hair standing there staring up at the man next to her.
Oh...so he really is an Alpha.
"Something happened. It's urgent, Alpha," She added, the urgency loud and clear in her tone.
Then, Ella felt his gaze on her back again, "You lucked out today, Sabertooth,"
Finally, she looked up to meet his gaze. Just as she suspected, it wasn't welcoming at all.
She lucked out? That was the first time someone was telling her something like that. But the truth was, luck has never been on her side. Well, except today when a certain someone told her they were mates.
A soft smile touched her face, and she shrugged uncaringly before she focused ahead again. The Alpha watched her for a few more seconds, before he left.
Hours passed by in a rush, and soon enough, it was time for the confluence to officially begin. The Full Moon was out, and all the Alphas present had converged and sat down... forming a full circle with a large round table. The Alphas who came with their betas or someone else from the Pack apart from their Lunas had the person stand behind them.
Ella watched everything from where she sat, listening to them speak. There wasn't much being said between them, but everyone knew the real conversation - or rather - battle, will begin after the blessed Luna is revealed to them.
"She's supposed to be an Alpha's mate, isn't she?" A beta was asking the person standing next to him.
"The legends say she's not just any Alpha's mate, she is an already crowned Luna of a Pack,"
"So you're saying she would most likely be chosen from one of the Lunas seated here. I wonder who it would be,"
Everyone was excited and nervous. This was something historical, but at the same time, one could see the slyness behind their eyes. The moment the Blessed Luna is revealed, all hell would probably break loose. That is how it's always been...
And that is why some Alphas had brought their betas with them...for the extra protection.
But Ella didn't care about any of that. If a fight were to break out, she was already far enough to escape without getting caught. Eric and Olivia should be able to take care of themselves, too.
Ella's eyes fanned over the gathering multiple times, but she still couldn't find that Alpha anywhere.
He couldn't have left already.
Suddenly, the wind picked up it's pace. It came from the north, blowing toward the east. The Mood of the brewing night was expanding, and the tension was only getting louder and louder.
And yet, nothing happened.
Ella looked up at the Moon, now curious herself.
' Moon Goddess...thank you for Today. Thank you for the second chanced mate, ' Ella said in her heart. She knew very well that the Moon Goddess could hear her clearly, 'But sincerely, I'm scared. He's the Alpha of the Alpha Pack... Would he even accept me? Will I be able to survive in such a notorious pack? I don't think I want to become one of them, '
Suddenly, The Moon's light began to grow. It's silvery essence began to fill the whole space, and everyone's anticipation grew.
"What if you were meant to be one of them? Will you not embrace the destiny I have blessed you with?" A delicate and bespelling soft voice asked out of nowhere, and Ella's eyes widened.
It couldn't be.
"M...Moon Goddess S...sele...Selene?" Ella asked, pushing up to stand on the rock as she kept staring at the Moon. It was bright, but not strong enough to blind anyone.
"I know what's in your heart, Estella. I know what you hide, the events of your past that you wish to lock away forever. I know what you've gone through, and even with the obstacles I have thrown your way, you still never cease to amaze me, Estella,"
Estella's eyes trembled, and when she opened her mouth... nothing came out of them.
"Tonight, I choose you, Estella Hastings, as the Blessed Luna. I believe you're more than capable, and that you and your mates can overcome anything. Take my blessings...and rise, my child,"
The light from the Moon immediately blew over, blinding everyone including her. As Estelle shielded her eyes from the intense rays, a sharp pain cut through her chest and she gasped, clutching at her heart.
The pain spread through her veins as quick lightning, feeling like she had been electrocuted. Her body shook heavily and Estella gripped a rock, sinking her claws into it to keep her steady.
The pain subsided with time, and when she opened her eyes...the blinding light was gone.
Ella was surprised to find herself standing in her wolf form, and the other person who stood before her was the one she has been searching for, his dark eyes as empty as ever. But this time, there was a hint of... emotions in them. He looked somewhat... Intrigued.
"Little wolf," He said to her, and Estella turned to see that everyone else had their eyes on her. Then, she looked at the Alpha again just as a cunning smirk touched his face, "Or should I say...Blessed Luna,"
