Paulina, stop talking!

I knocked twice at the door and then I entered in his office. I looked left and right but I couldn't see him anywhere in the room. I scanned the office and saw the changes he had done. He removed everything that remind of Mr. Ahmed, from the pictures he had on his desk to the oil painting he had on the wall. How can he be so cold and want to get rid of all of his father's things?

I moved to the right side of the office and looked at the big city I was living in through the huge glass wall. I love the view from here. Every time I was upset Mr. Ahmed used to let me stay here and look at the world from above while giving me short but sweet talks. He was like the father I never had. God, I am crying again! It's so hard to accept that he's gone.

Bad timing, Paulina! I said to myself when I heard the door slamming.

Here you are! Said Malik and sat on his chair. Is my schedule ready?

Yes! I gave him a short answer and went next to him. 

I placed on his desk the papers I was holding and started presenting him all the things he had to take care of. I don't know why, but I felt that he wasn't listen to what I was saying. 

And that is your tomorrow schedule! Is there anything you want to ask me?  

Bring me a big cup of coffee! He said and powered his laptop on.

I did what I was told to and I went straight to my office. While the coffee machine was doing its job I decided to take a minute for myself so I sat on my chair and put my legs on my desk. I am so tired and hungry and it's not even lunch time! I raised my hands and closed my eyes, enjoying this little moment of silence. 

Assi... Said Malik and entered my room, but he stopped when he saw my unusual position.

I jumped from my chair and arranged my black skirt, feeling my face turning red.

Is there anything I can do for you? I asked him trying to get over that embarrassing moment.

Why were you staying like that?

He started laughing and came closer to me. He raised his left hand and touched my hair making me step back. What is he doing?

Your hair was a little messy. I was just... 

He couldn't finish what he wanted to say because he was interrupted by the sound of the coffee machine.

It seems like your coffee is ready! I said and went to the table where the machine was placed. What were you saying?

Nothing! I came here to let you know that we have a very important meeting tonight with a possible new business partner.

We? I asked and turn around. 

Yes, Paulina, we! 

I opened up my eyes shocked and raised my eyebrows.

What? It is just work, do not think...

No, no! God, no! It's just... this was the first time you called my name instead of "assistant"! 

I smiled thinking that maybe he was not as bad as I imagined but the way he looked at me after that made my smile disappear. 

Nevermind! I will be there! I said embarrassed for the second time in less than ten minutes.

Where?

At the meeting you were talking about.

But I haven't told you anything about the place or the time of the meeting!

OH, PAULINA! STOP TALKING! Screamed my inner voice.

I blinked fast trying to find something to say, but my head was completely empty. Thanks God Malik decided to continue talking after my dumb moment.

Be ready at 8! 

That being said he left my office, closing the door after him. I put my hands over my mouth thinking at what happened earlier, almost sitting on my desk. 

A few minutes later I shook my head and decided to go back to my duties.

After Malik left my office nothing interesting had happened. I decided to order some food and eat inside my office, not with my collegues as I usually did. All I was thinking of was that I told Malik that I wanted to quit my job but now I am not sure I want to do it. Alexa is right. If I don't have money I won't be able to take care of my family and I'm not ready to lose them now, not after everything I've done to get closer to them. 

I don't want to disappoint my parents! I found myself saying out loud.

I will have to talk to Malik about this matter tonight and maybe he will allow me to keep my job. Unless he has already found somebody else... I'm sure he has lots of connections and it's not that hard for him to find a new assistant.

I looked at my phone and decided it was time to go home. I took my bag and went to my boss' office in order to let him know I was done for today, but when I got out of my room I saw a blonde woman entering in his office. What if she is someone very important? Maybe they don't want to be disturbed. I think I should go home without saying anything to him.

I entered the elevator and, as soon as the doors closed I called Alexa, whom I talked until I stepped into my apartment. 

It's six and a half and I think I've never got home so early! The traffic was not so heavy today. Well, maybe the people want to enjoy the last days of autumn and decided to take a walk instead of driving.

I should take a walk someday! I said heading to the bathroom. But now, a hot bath would be excellent!
