DAMSEL’S MEMORIAL SERVICE.
Cate's been dreading this day. Partly because she still feels at fault for Damsel's death. Partly because... she doesn't quite know why. Just a sinking feeling, one she knows only too well. This sense of doom has proliferated since moving to Lament.
Why would anybody move to a town called Lament? Why had she?
Easy answer. She'd moved here for Bev.
Now they're not even living together.
But Cate must return to Mystic Ridge before the service. The only clothes she's brought with her, to Jay-Jay's house, are her waitressing uniforms and lounge-around-the-house clothes.
