Sixteen hatches later and Nova had the process so smoothly worked out that she only spent a few minutes at each. The routine was the same each time; switch the controls into maintenance mode, apply her changes, test them, switch the controls out of maintenance mode then test the changes once more.
It wasn’t enough. Despite the fast progress she was making she couldn’t shake the feeling each conduit was just like those before, even when the features were actually different. The walls were starting to close in on her again. She resented the time spent at each hatch, especially the time lost to testing.
