Chapter 71
With Ali’s strength added to Sal’s the Guardian’s forces were pushed steadily backwards. Sal smiled, happy at the results but even more happy to have her friend back from the nothingness inflicted upon her. Still, fast though their progress was it wasn’t enough. They had to follow Jess into the citadel beyond the Guardian’s forces.
“Pull more strength in,” Sal said to Ali. “We have to find out what Jess is doing in there.”
Ali did as Sal asked, focusing strength from even more of the Gifted on nearby ships. With the added surge many of the Guardians were destroyed rather than just pushed back. Sal and Ali continued to press their advantage, turning it into an unstoppable momentum.
“We should take some of them alive,” Ali said.
Sal considered for a moment, then agreed.
