“We’re nearly there,” said Jess quietly. “We should wait here. I’ll send the robot ahead.”
“Are you sure?” Clay asked. “If I saw that thing limping around the corner I think I’d shoot first and not bother asking questions.”
“Maybe, but I’d rather any shooting is directed at the robot, not at us.”
“Yeah, good point. Try not to be trigger happy, at least. Whoever that is might well be scared and holding a g*n. That’s never a great combination.”
Jess nodded in acknowledgement, almost all of his focus on the information flowing back from the robot. It moved forwards, went through the door ahead and turned right down the long corridor. When it neared the end it turned and opened a door leading through into a room beyond.
