Correction, that wasn't Jake. It was Jake's wolf, his eyes were black and it showed no sign of Jake anywhere. He was looking at me and from his eyes, I could tell what his intention was, he was going to claim me tonight and I wasn't going to have any say in it. The guard stood shakily in front of me, meaning to protect me like he had promised Jake to do yet scared out of his mind as he stood in the way of an Alpha male trying to get to his mate. I pitied him, he was simply following orders and he might die for it.
"Run," I tell him, giving him a chance to live. Jake might see that the guard is there but his focus is on me, if the guard were to run away Jake would be the last to know about it.
