Let me breathe~Nate~Earth

After we were sure 'the thing' was gone, I moved Nefeli to my house. She refused at first but then relented after I bribbed her.

Right now we are lying down and watching hairspray because she wants to watch it. I'm not complaining because I actually like hairspray.

" Nate, she isn't in the pack anymore. We're walking over. I'm excited! " I hear Xavier shout in my head. Of course he's excited. He's always wanted to be here, ever since I first told him about it. I see Nefeli glance at me multiple times, but then she turns her head into my chest.

" Nate, can I ask you something?" Nefeli whispers in my chest as the ending credits start to show. I turn to look at her and she looks sick.

" Are you okay? Is it the baby?" I ask sitting up with her on my chest.

" No, it's just-I don't want to remind you of something that hurt you... But I really need to know you, understand you " she says softly with tears forming in her eyes. I just nod for her to continue. She closes her eyes and grabs head making me lean on her chest. I chuckle but let her.

"I saw a vision, the first time I really looked at you. It was horrible and I didn't know if it was a vision of the future or a memory. " she pauses and pulls me closer to her. I hold onto her waist to encourage her.

" There was a group of scary men, they looked cruel and heartless. They snuck into a house where there was a young boy and a girl. The boy was quietly walking around the living room in order to scare the girl who was watching TV. Then suddenly he is shot with a dart, he falls down and the men enter the house. They grab the boy and held him down. The girl he hits the man that grabs you. The man attacks the girl... " I feel myself freeze. My eyes are filled with tears and my body goes numb. She knows... Now she will leave me for the evil thing I did. No, no, no! Why now?

" The boy watched the girl get clawed to death. After the men get what they wanted they leave the boy by the dead girl. He tried reaching for her but he is too weak. After the substance fades, the boy gets up and doesn't hear her pulse... The boy, scared, runs out of the house. He hides in the bushes until his parents come home. He later enters and doesn't speak a word about it or anything general his parents. " she finishes lifting me to look her in the eyes. My face probably looked a mess and I had tears all over my face. I wait for the judgement, the disgust and maybe even the hatred to appear in her eyes, directed at me. But they soften and she hugs my neck.

" I understand..." she says and I breathe out a shaky breathe. She lets go and looks at me.

" That was in the past, now we move on and be happy." she smiles at me and sits down. I nod and she lets out a breathe. I squeeze her hand to calm her. She looks to me and says,

"We all have something to be ashamed of." she says looking outside the window. I furrow my eyebrows in confusion and she continues.

" My mother was a warrior, she fought well and never lost. Then she became pregnant with my baby sister, Angel. I loved her before I even saw her. My momma and I were inseparable. She taught me everything I excel at. One time we were home and the horn was blown, meaning we are under attack and all able soldiers must fight. My momma was 6 months pregnant by then, but that didn't stop her. " she pauses and her hands falling from my face and she grips my bicep in a strong painful grip but I let her.

" I was playing hide and seek so I was hiding in the closet when I heard the bell and I heard her calling for me, she said, " Nefeli! where are you?" I told her I was in the closet and she came to me. She told me to stay in the closet and to not come out no matter what, till she comes to get me. She promised me they would be fine and no one would get hurt. So I sat, even when I heard her cries I stayed down. I thought the people were trying to trick me. I waited for a day, it was silent so I left the closet. I remember walking to the window and seeing a crowd. I thought, momma did it so everyone is celebrating her. " she stops and looks to me eyes full of tears. She gulps and sniffles.

"I jumped out the window and walked for abit incase there was anyone waiting to attack me. I started running towards the crowd. I pushed through everyone and reached the centre. I saw my momma and Angel laying there, lifeless with her eyes wide open staring at me. I looked at everyone to see their eyes filled with disgust. I could almost see their thoughts, she is weak or she is pathetic for letting hey mother die. I was two but I knew what they meant. They expected me to be great but before I could prove myself I already looked like a failure. I then passed out... Nate she promised me they would come back, that they would be fine but they didn't, they died and left me, promised me no one would get hurt but I'm hurting. It hurt Nate " she then looks away from me. I lead her chin back to me. I place her hand on my heart.

"You're so strong and amazing. I truly don't deserve you. " I say meaning those words and more. She hugs my torso and I lean back to make her comfortable.

We sit in a pleasant silence as we think about each other's past. She didn't deserve what happened to her, it explains her need to protect her family and friends. We soon fall asleep.

Knock! Knock! Knock! I hear someone knock at the front door. I leave her in bed to open the door. I walk to the door expecting Xavier, however when I open it I'm met with no one. I look around then close the door. I wait at the door incase someone tries to break in or knocks again.

"What in the cranberry are you doing?" I jump and turn around to see Xavier and Amara with some food and other stuff in their hands. They must've entered through the back door. I just sigh and walk forward, hoping they won't follow me so I can't continue sleeping with Nefeli. I reach the door and look back when I hear feet shuffling as well. I see Xavier looking around in fascination and Amara pulling him forward.

"I'm destined to be with a man-child, what did I do Selene?" Amara says when he points at the kitchen area. He pouts at her and I laugh at them. I move to enter the room, but I stop when I smell something. I turn and narrow my eyes at Xavier. He freezes and raises his hands in mock surrender. I move towards Amara and he pulls her to his front, also narrowing his eyes at me. A sonic squeal knocks us out of our staring contest. Nefeli rushes out the room and hugs Amara. She places her hand on her womb and Amara glows red. She squeals again.

"Amara congratulations! I'm not alone with this male anymore! You're staying with us." she says happily. I freeze and turn to Xavier who looks too happy for my liking.

" Princess, I didn't invite them to stay here." I say slowly and carefully. She pouts and looks to me.

" Okay... We invite you to stay here!" she says. I clear my throat.

" Darling, they need to stay with the pack and keep them in order." I say willing her to understand. She looks at me and then grunts.

" Okay, it's clear you wish for me to starve and die alone!" she shouts then closes the door locking it. I look at the door and sigh. ' Nefeli pregnant is an experience I never want to relive. ' I think to myself.

"I heard that" she said and I pale. I knock but I just receive sniffling as response.

"Amara can stay with us." I say trying to get her to open up. Jake and I don't like that she isn't with me. I hear her shuffle to the door, but she doesn't open the door.

" Xavier and Amara can stay here." I say finally. The door swings open and she stands at the door. I try to walk in but she puts her hand out, stopping me.

"Why can't I enter?" I ask her confused.

"Oh because Amara and I are going to have a pregnant lady sleep over and you guys can... Play call of duty." she says and she grabs Amara's hand pulling her into the room.

"You could get us snacks," she says. Xavier and I look at each other. We both know it wasn't a suggestion.

I just grab the food they brought and left some for us downstairs, Xavier picks up something else.

"We brought the food!" I say and they immediately stop giggling. Amara then talks.

"Did you get the clothing bag I brought Xavier?" she asks.

" Yeah, what is it?" he asks looking at the bag that was closed.

" Oh pregnant lady panties." Amara says but it's obvious she is lying.

The door opens and they are in towels. They grab the stuff and close the door. The giggling continues and we just head down.

"I just want to sleep with her, not nearby males!" Xavier says glaring at me.

" The feeling is mutual." I say glaring back. After a moment we laugh and then we closer our eyes.

"Goodnight bae." Xavier says sleepily. I chuckle remembering our old nicknames for each other.

"Goodnight cupcake." I say playing along. Then we finally fall asleep after much struggle, I wish Nefeli was with me.
