The Vampire Luna

Chapter 20

Alice:

My mother sighs loudly before saying, “I wish you had a better way to show discipline.” I smile then say, “This is the best way to show it.” She shakes her head then says, “Take me back to my room, I want to rest more.” I nod then we begin our return. As we are walking Hanna returns to me and says, “I have placed her in one of your personal dungeons.” I give her a smile then say, “Sorry about that.” She smiled then said, “I know that you did it to make us aware that you are not joking around but please don’t stop on my account. I think everyone was being too relaxed and for that reason this happened.” She looked at my mother and gave her a smile. I said, “Well, now I will appoint you as her aid until she gets better.” Hanna looked at me then said, “I will do my best to keep her healthy.” I smiled and she followed us back to my mother’s room. 

I placed her on her bed and said to Hanna, “I want you to find 3 more servants that you trust  will be loyal.” She nods then begins to think before saying, “They are a bit young.” I smile and say, “How young?” She smiles and says, “They recently turned 50 years old.” I nod and say, “Bring them here.” She bows and immediately leaves. I turn to my mother and say softly, “How are you feeling now?” She smiles and says, “I hope the effects wear off soon.” I nod then she asks in almost a whisper, “Who is your mate?” I smile and say, “Remember that invitation you received?” She looks at me confused but nods then I say, “He will be their new leader.” Her eyes widened then she said, “What are you going to do?” I sigh then say, “I want to be with him but I want to hopefully fix the bad blood our species has before I announce him as my mate.”  She smiles and says, “They will allow it if it is for your happiness.” I shake my head then say, “Erick is persistent about marrying me and I will not allow him to endanger my mate. If I were to announce this before I fixed the issue with him, he would surely try to kill him.” My mother sighed then nodded as she said, “Yes, you’re right. I remember that when you broke the engagement he went on a rampage.” I nodded, then said a bit guiltily, “I also didn’t tell him who I really was.” She now frowned at me then said, “You will let him know who you are as soon as you get a chance.” I smiled then said, “That might be sooner than you expect.” 

There was a knock on the door that interrupted us. I said as I got up, “Come in.” Hanna and 3 other women entered the room. I looked at Hanna and all the women then said, “Hello.” They bowed to us then said, “Hello, your majesties.” I smiled then said, “I asked Hanna to choose 3 servants that she dems loyal.” They quickly glanced at Hanna then back at me. I smiled at them then said, “As you might have heard, there was an attempt to take the throne from my mother and I don’t want a repeat of that.” They nodded and I added, “As of today, you 3 will be trained by Hanna in order to be the personal aids to my mother and I.” Their eyes widened then one of them said, “I don’t think I will be able to do this.” I looked at her and asked, “Why?” She gulped then said, “I am taking care of my 3 children.” I looked at her then said, “That’s fine. If you need them to be here with you I will arrange for them to be here.” She shook her head then said, “That would be asking too much.” I smiled then said, “How old are your children?” She looked at me worried and I smiled then said, “Please be honest.” She sighed then said, “I have a 15 year old, a 10 year old and a 5 year old.” I walked up to her then said cautiously, “What happened to your husband?” She bit her lip as tears began to form then said with a shaky voice, “He was killed by a werewolf 4 years ago.” I gave her a sympathetic smile then said, “Bring your children here. This will be a better job than any other you may have.” She nodded and I said to Hanna, “Make sure that any of them that have family, have a house to themselves within the castle. If they have children enroll them in school, make sure that they have all the needed stuff to begin school.” She nodded, then I added as I looked at the women, “If there are any issues with any other servants, I will expect you to let me know about it immediately. I say this because if they try to give you a hard time for being my personal aids, I will make sure they remember their place.” They nodded but I saw the fear in their eyes. I smiled then said, “Hanna will let you know when your living spaces will be available.” They all bowed then left.

Sebastian:

I have been away from my mate for a few days and it feels like eternity. I have been trying to reach Alice but she was not picking up and she did not reply to any of my texts. I was still trying to find a way to make the rogue talk but I was drawing a blank. I was getting more irritated as time passed. Jon and Laura were trying to mend their relationship and I was angry that my mate was not worried about me. I decided to go for a run but my phone rang. I quickly grabbed it and as I saw the caller ID I let out a low growl from seeing it wasn't my mate. I took a deep breath and said as I picked up the phone, "Hey dad." He sighed loudly then said, "I went to visit your grandmother today." I suddenly felt happy as I said, "Did you see my mate?" I sounded desperate but I didn't care if he could tell me that she was missing me. He sighed again then said, "No." My heart sunk and I said, "What happened?" I could feel the silence speak volumes and I said, "Is she hurt?" He sighed then said, "No, she quit and returned to her home." I felt  my heart break and I said as my voice broke, "When?" He said hesitantly, "The day you left was her last day at work." I felt my heart break and I could feel my wolf take control as a loud howl left my mouth. 

I didn't know where I was going, I just ran and finally stopped when I couldn't run anymore. It was already night time and the full moon was at its peak. I howled again in my sorrow and despair when I heard Jon say from a distance, "Alpha Sebastian, are you okay?" I got up in my wolf form and tried to move but my muscles were sore and felt heavy so I laid down again. I sighed and he said as he began to walk closer, "Your father called me to keep an eye on you." I growled and he said, "He explained what happened." I growled as I glared at him. He sighed then said, "I was told by a very wise man that in any relationship it takes time to get to know each other. I don't think your mate left because she is running away from you or the mate bond. I think that she left because it was important." I was about to growl but I felt like he might have a point. I began to shift and said as I began to get up, "Thank you, I really needed another perspective and I couldn't find it." He walked up to me and gave me spare clothes as he said, "I decided to give Laura a chance." I felt a sting but I said, "I'm glad, if you two decide to mate then you will be the new Alpha." He sighs then says, "I totally forgot about that." I begin to laugh as he helps me walk and says, "I have a car waiting for us." I chuckle as I say, "I'm sorry I acted like a pup." He smiles as he says, "It took all my strength to stop myself from tearing her away form you when she hugged you." I shook my head and he said, "I respect you and we all understand that it was because of our Luna." I looked at him confused as he said, "We all felt the heart ache you were feeling." I rubbed the bridge of my nose and said, "I feel so embarrassed know." Jon smiled then said, "Let's get you to rest." I nod as we got closer to the car.
