“Why did you stop?” Selena asked, confused. “And why are you staring at the lady like she’s a ghost that just came back to life?”
“S—she… she’s meant to… u—uhm,” I stuttered as I tried to come up with a response. I couldn’t believe that I was seeing her standing in front of me. Then I cleared my throat after a beat and steadied my voice. “Maybe she’s a twin.”
“Zoey, what are you talking about?”
I closed my eyes briefly and rubbed them, so I would be able to see clearly. I had no idea if my eyes were deceiving me, but Sean’s mother was standing in front of me.
She looked healthy and strong.
Two kids were tugging at her hand while she cheerfully discussed with the other lady at the stand.
“Sean’s mother,” I replied vaguely.
“That’s Sean’s mother?”
