When he threatened to tell Conrad about my secret, I didn’t know he also meant telling him about Zoey’s parents.
I had already come up with an explanation for Zoey about Elara. But what could I possibly say to her about her parents?
A wave of anger coursed through me.
I was standing there in silence, staring at Conrad with the ultimatum he had given me. I felt stuck— like there was no way out.
If I agree to him taking Zoey, all my plans would be null. And if I don’t agree, he'll tell her everything, and it’ll still ruin my plans.
