8 Ailsa Becomes An Elf

1603 Words
Walt and Jenny dragged their feet on the ground as they walked while Ailsa walked with so much energy. They were a couple of hours away from Elves Valley and the sun was setting. “We should set up camp for the night,” Walt said and stopped walking. He leaned against a tree to catch his breath and Jenny did the same. Ailsa turned to face them and was going to protest but saw that Jenny was also tired, so she agreed. The three gathered firewood and killed some nearby rabbits to roast and eat. Thee night was very cold, so Walt and Jenny huddled near the fire but Ailsa seemed not to feel anything. “Hey,” Walt said as he moved over to where Ailsa was sitting. She ignored him and he realized that she was still angry about what he said earlier but he didn’t notice it because of Jenny. He tried to hold her hand but she snatched it away. He sighed and hung his head in defeat. “Ailsa, I’m sorry about what I said…I was tired and I wasn’t thinking,” he said but she still said nothing “Ailsa, come on, please talk to me. What can I do to fix this? I’m really sorry,” he had no idea what possessed him to behave like that. He had only just gotten her back and he was messing it up all over again. She said nothing for a while and he just sat there looking at her as she poked at the fire with a stick. “Don’t you want me here?” she suddenly said and looked at him. “Of course I do,” “Then why do you keep acting like I’m a disturbance?” “I, I am sorry Ailsa, nothing I can say can justify my actions. I was just so tired and you were so full of…life, I got a little jealous,” he explained and she scrunched her face at him. “Really?” “Yeah,” “Wow,” she giggled and smacked his arm “I forgive you, but next time, just tell me how you’re feeling. Okay?” she said and gave him a pointed look. “Yes, ma’am,” he said nodding. Ailsa smiled and gave him a kiss on the cheek. “Let’s get some sleep,” she said and he agreed. Then they slept off under the twinkle of the stars.   The next morning, they all set off again towards their destination. Elves Valley was the dwelling place of most elves except nomadic elves. When a player becomes an elf, it is necessary for him to enter the valley and be assigned a type. Walt hoped that Ailsa would be a nomadic elf because they were the rarest and luckiest type. Nomadic elves activate their archery skills, they are excellent healers and can absorb power easily from their surroundings. “We’re here,” Walt said and they stood at the edge of the widest valley they had ever seen. The hills that surrounded it was huge and they stood on one of it. After some searching, they located steps that led down to the valley but there were two elves that stood guard there with spears. “State your business here,” one of the elves said when he saw the three approaches. Walt looked at Ailsa and nodded his head in their direction, indicating for her to go. She shyly stepped forward and smiled at the guards, they did not smile back. So instead she cleared her throat and told them she was a new elf and has come for her awakening. “What is your profession?” one of them asked. “I…uh, the Sanctuary of the Archangel, sir,” she answered and the two elves looked at each other. “You may pass,” they said in unison and stepped aside to let her through. Walt and Jenny tried to follow her but the guards crossed their spears and glared at them. “Only elves may go into the Elves Valley,” they said, again in unison. Ailsa stopped behind the guards to look at Walt with worried eyes. “Don’t worry, just go ahead. We’ll be right here waiting for you,” Walt said. “Yeah, don’t worry,” it was Jenny who spoke. Ailsa forced a smile and waved at them. She turned and continued down the steps, walking carefully because the ground was a little slippery. She bit her lip and wished Walt was with her, he was the expert at the game, not her. When she reached the bottom of the steps, she met another duo of elves. This time, they were old female elves and they smiled at her. Their skin was splotchy and grey, their eyes were milky and they had little teeth left but they still smiled at her. “Welcome, we are the valley keepers. Come with us,” they said together and each grabbed one of her hands. Ailsa swallowed and walked in the direction that they pulled her. The valley seemed desolate and dry. It was just a bare expanse of land that seemed to go on forever. Ailsa wanted to look up behind her to see if she could find Walt and Jenny but decided against it and just followed the old woman. They stopped all of a sudden and turned to her, smiling again. “Enter,” they said and waved their hands to the land before them. Ailsa frowned and looked at both of them unsurely. “Enter where? There’s no door,” she said “Enter,” they said again and made the same gesture. She sighed and stepped tentatively forward. Then, as she moved forward, she seemed to pass through some sort of thick transparent membrane. Suddenly, the dry acrid land was gone. There was now a splendid meadow about her, with trees to the far sides of the meadow, the shrubbery was green and lush and there was a waterfall ahead which sent water pouring down like blue crystals to form a lake at the bottom. Swans glided on the lake gracefully and beautiful flowers grew all around it. The sight took Ailsa’s breath away. She twirled around a bit and laughed out loud. “Come with us,” the old woman caught her attention again and she stopped spinning. As she followed them, she saw elves everywhere. They were all beautiful, they mostly had long hair and they had different skin colors but all of them had the same pointy ears she had. “You must lie in the pool and wait, then you’ll wake and we shall know your fate,” the women chanted and a pool seemed to appear out of nowhere. The water in the pool was so clear and it shimmered. Ailsa looked at the women unsurely, they continued to chant. She then stepped into the pool and submerged herself into it completely. As she laid in the water, her eyes were open and she looked up to the clear blue sky. Her body seemed to be weightless. Pleasure zinged through her body like electricity and she felt like she was melting into the water, becoming one with it. Then, she closed her eyes.   “What kind of elf do you think she’ll be?” Jenny asked Walt. They were seated under a tree, a couple of feet away from the guards who stood still under the sun and never moved an inch. They were elves and had great strength but they had to be system programmed since all they really did was stay still and let elves pass once in a while. “I really don’t know. Any kind would be nice, as long as we get to still be a team,” he replied with a shrug. They fell back into silence and Jenny traced patterns into the sand with a stick. Walt was a little worried that Ailsa might be kept in the valley and not allowed to leave. Elf players that he had met in real life said that the Elves valley was a really beautiful place and most elves prefer to stay there and find adventures. He looked down at the valley again and saw the dry land but he didn’t see Ailsa. The land didn’t look really beautiful to him, it looked kind of harsh if he was being honest but he quickly thought that it could be some kind of camouflage spell. “How much longer do you think she’ll take?” Jenny spoke up again. She seemed to have gotten anxious and Walt could understand that. She had just met them after all and did not really know much about them. He wanted to try and appeal to her when they heard a loud giggle that could only come from one person. “Walt! Jenny!” she screamed and bounced towards them. Walt’s breath caught in his chest as he watched her. Her normally long black hair was even longer and flowed down to the back of her knees. The elf outfit that barely covered her before was now different, it covered her breasts and bottom properly now and thin strips of fur crisscrossed over her belly. She also had a white fur cloak that flowed behind her and was holding up a bow as she made her way to them. Walt stood up and was immediately crushed by a hug from her. She laughed and pulled away to tell him she had become a nomadic elf and the Elves Valley was amazing and she wanted to stay there forever but they said no when she asked if she could bring him in. “They gave me this bow and…where’s Jenny?” she suddenly asked and Walt looked behind him to see that their third member was gone. “Jenny?” Walt yelled, Ailsa called out for her too and they looked around but could not find her “she must have gone offline,” Walt said and held Ailsa close to him “Maybe we should go and get some real rest too,” Ailsa said and Walt agreed. Then they stopped the game and woke up.
