I feel a slight movement against the front of my leg. I open my eyes in a flash and stare at Kenzi. I feel a wave of disappointment hit me as I realise she isn’t awake yet. Hope comes creeping back in when I feel yet another slight movement against my leg. I look down and see Kenzi’s hand move ever so slightly.
“Kenz, are you awake?” I ask in a whispered tone. I get no answer. I then try to mind link her.
“Babe? Are you awake?” I ask, somewhat uncertain she will hear me.
“Alex! Can you hear me?” Her sweet voice invades my mind.
“I can hear you babe. You have no idea how good it is to hear your voice. Can you open up your eyes for me?”
“I’m trying. I can’t concentrate on both talking to you and opening my eyelids at once.” She says in a somewhat annoyed tone.
