Chapter 6: Punishment

867 Words
The family found a place in the woods off the main road. Guards and Mike followed them. Then they set up the camp and went to sleep. The guards took position. When the Asahis fell asleep, Mike pointed it out. Guards opened the cramped camp and tried to take the boy out, but Rekka was actually awake and faking his sleep. He waved at the guards and said "hello!" not knowing what was going on. This woke up his parents and they jumped out. Guards quickly tackled the father but the mother ran out with Rekka in her hands. He was still confused, but then remembered what happened the last time and started throwing fireballs. A guard got hurt. Mike got alarmed but he didn't waste any time. He appeared behind the woman, pointing the knife at her throat. Rekka got scared and stopped. The young adventurer started speaking to her in a menacing but calm voice: -You should let go of the boy before anyone gets hurt. I don't want to do this miss but if you don't hand out the boy, I will be left with no choice other than to cut you. Father told her to not resist, saying it was futile, but she was ready to risk her life for Rekka. Mike was bluffing. He would not hurt an innocent resident trying to protect her child, but he was ordered to get the anomaly boy back to the higher-ups. Rekka was afraid. Even as a 5-year old, he was thinking that he would again lose his precious family. He panicked and threw a small fireball at Mike. He hit his left eye. Mike started got scared and lost his control. He quickly pulled his arm and narrowly cut the woman's throat, making her drop down and pouring rivers of blood on Rekka. Father got devastated. He got really mad, broke free of the guard and punched one of them in the face, breaking their nose and teeth. Other guard pinned him down. The pool of blood got to him. The father started crying and screaming. Guards were also in disbelief. Akio rushed over to Rekkas mother, trying to stop the bleeding, but it was too late. She was dead. Rekka looked at her mother, and tried to wake her up, but he didn't respond. He kept pushing her over and over again screaming: -Mom! Mom, wake up! Dad is getting hurt! We need to help him! MOM! MOOM! Mike was freaking out and rolling around in pain .He saw what he did and nearly threw up. He was scared, thinking this was his end. Akio tried to calm Rekka down, but he was not responding. Soon Rekka completely stopped and fell down on his knees. Father screamed his name while crying, but he had no reaction. Suddenly, the bird flocks around started flying away. A heavy aura formed around the camp and the air around was getting hot. The blood on Rekka vaporized. Guards took out their weapons and were on lookout. Mike started bandaging his face. Father stopped crying and looked at his child. Rekka started to turn around slowly. Guards got terrified and Akio moved away from him, he was emitting immense heat. Rekkas eyes were bright red and on his palms were formed unknown symbols. He had a dead smile on his face. One guard attacked the kid. Rekka looked at him, pointed the palm on his hand and... Blasted the guard with a huge beam of concentrated fire. Only ashes were left of the guard, spreading in the hot air. Trees that were hit by the beam was gone and the forest got caught on fire. Guards and Mike were terrified, they let go of the demon child's father and started running away. Rekka looked at them with a death stare, pointed both of his hands at them and threw a massive fireball. All of them were burning alive as they screamed in agony. Their armor got melted into liquid and nothing was left of them. He then slowly turned around at Mike, smiling. His red teeth were brighter and his glowing red eyes were dead. He pointed his hand at the crying boy and was ready to turn him into ashes. He laughed hysterically and blasted fire with his hand. Akio mustered his courage, ran at the demon and knocked him down. Rekka missed and hit Mikes arm, burning it. Mike screamed from the immense pain and ran as fast as he could to the nearby river to put the fire out. Akio looked at the boy and saw he was knocked out. He was turned to normal. He looked around and saw the ashes of his fallen comrades. The forest around him was burning and it was difficult to breathe. Rekkas Father was missing. Akio assumed he was caught in the forest fire. He did not know what to do. Leave the demon boy to die, or to take him back with the risk of him going berserk again. He didn't have much time. He took the child in his hands and started running away. His armor was melting from the heat, so he left it behind.
