CHAPTER 005 - UNANTICIPATED DRAMA

1124 Words
~ ALYSSA'S POV ~ I didn't realize that I had dozed off until I fluttered my eyes open to see the car coming to a stop at the front of a magnificent house—a mansion literally. Since it was night, the mansion looked so beautiful with the lights all up. The rain had stopped. About five men in black suits sprinted over to the car and opened the door for us. The confusion on my face was pretty evident as I stepped out of the car. I rushed over to Kinsley and held her hand. The man who sat beside me at the backside and still held a frown as his resting face walked towards us, "What is your name?" He asked, I glanced around, feeling a little hesitant to reply, "Alyssa," "Alyssa," He breathed, "Do you have a place to go?" I felt that question right in my soul, and before I could find the right words to say, Kinsley beat me to it, "No, we have nowhere to go. We ran away from home, we are new in this city," She disclosed, rushedly. I understood her outburst as her being tired and just wanting to rest—I felt the same way. "Great then. I have a deal for you, Alyssa," He groaned, A deal? My eyes met his and believe me when I say he had the most beautiful hazel eyes I had ever seen in my whole life. And I knew it wasn't the best time as he looked so overly serious but I couldn't help but admire how majestic he looked—Handsome was an understatement. It was slightly dim but I could clearly still see how smooth his skin was, his eyes sparked even more when I glanced at them for the second them, "Are you listening, Alyssa?" I heard him call and ohhh, those lips. That voice. It was unlike any other man—unlike Gabriel's. Gabriel? Hold on!—s**t, I'm still legally married to that monster. I frowned. "What is it? You don't want the deal?" He seemed to notice the tight frown on my face, I waved my hand very close to his face, "No, no. It's—It's not that. I'm totally in on the deal," I said, shocking myself too. I still had no idea what the deal was though. He nodded with a sly grin and damn! That was so attractive and sexy, I felt it in my legs. 'Alyssa! Stop!' I reprimanded myself in my thoughts, but I guess I was only human after all. "What happened to your head?" He crooned, I didn't even remember that I still had a bandage wrapped around my forehead until he mentioned it. I subconsciously moved my hand to close Kinsley's mouth as if I knew she would burst the truth out again. "I fell," I lied, He nodded, "Let's go in," He uttered. I glanced around with contemplation, the driver nodded at me with assurance, and I nodded back. I held Kinsley's hand and followed him into the mansion. Elegant! Luxury! Beautiful! All of that was an understatement of how heavenly this place looked and felt. As I kept on anxiously trailing behind him, holding Kinsley's hand, I saw his hand reach out to hold my other hand and he suddenly began walking at the same pace as us. I gawked hard at him, then at his hand holding mine then back up at his face holding a sly grin, "Are you ready?" He asked, My brows snapped together, Ready for what? We took another turn and my eyes widened at the crowd I saw standing there. It looked like a rich-people party, but from the lovey-dovey large posters on the wall, it was more like an engagement party between this sly man holding my hand and a blonde who looked like a celebrity. I had no idea what I was getting myself and my daughter into, but I knew it wouldn't be good. I could feel it and I hated that I was scared all of a sudden. "Ladies and Gentlemen, meet my wife and my daughter," He announced to the utter shock of me and even Kinsley. "What?!" I screeched in his face without fear. He screeched in turn and told me to stay still. His outburst did more than just grab everyone's attention, it stunned them to silence. The blonde stepped out, she was even more beautiful in person than in the posters. "What the hell are you talking about, Xander?!" She snarled, raking her dreadful eyes all over me, 'Xander' stepped in front of me as if to stop the lady from staring at me with so much contempt, "You heard me loud and clear, Scarlett," He released. A collective gasp escaped the crowd. I felt Kinsley tugging at my hand. I looked at her, and she mouthed a "What is going on?" with a confused face. I shrugged my shoulders, also completely clueless about what was going on. Xander took a step towards the lady, Scarlett. "You come to my house however and whenever you feel like it and turn it upside down for purely stupid reasons," He spat, I felt my body shudder at how unnerving his voice suddenly got, Scarlett remained quiet but her gaze didn't leave Xander. If I were the one standing in her position, I would have shrunk to the floor in fear. "Is it right that I had to find out about my own engagement party from my driver?!" He spat out again and the realization finally swept through me, "Your Mom wished for me to be engaged to you as soon as possible and she wanted me to keep it a secret from you," Scarlett finally released, Xander cracked up, "We broke up three f*****g years ago. Why should I be engaged to you, Scarlett? I don't get it! And why do you follow every single order that my selfish mother decrees, I don't see you to be so petty," Scarlett paced towards him, "I'm petty because I love you. Because I really want to be your wife, Xander. Why won't you give me another chance," Personally, I felt like this was getting too intimate, and I felt the urge to run back out with my daughter, but Xander suddenly grabbed my hand. "There is no second chance, Scarlett. I loved you but not anymore. I have a wife and a stepdaughter now. So, please, stop your madness and leave me alone," Xander was damn serious, but I was furious. "What is going on here, Son? Who are these dirty rags?!" His mother yelled from behind us, and we turned to meet her, pointing at me and my daughter.
