A man in a classical black suit came strolling down a silent cobblestone street. His black leather briefcase swinging at his side. Safely away from the busy street, he allows himself to think. He hated the noise and bumping into people here and there. He considered himself too good to be rubbing elbows with common people.
His mind is usually cluttered with wanting to get away from it all was now just thinking of lunch and the little bistro nearby. Normally quiet and the food good enough for his palette. So every other day for the past week he went to this bistro and took a shortcut so he wouldn't need to scramble through crowds of people. One would think, why don’t you just use your car? Because this rich man's driver was out sick and if chose to drive a car himself road rage was sure to consume him. With all the fights he would get into, It would take this uptight man twice as long to get home. He doesn’t have the patience for such a thing.
The sun was high in the sky as the midday rays blasted upon the ground. The cobblestone street colored a fading orange mocha. It was quiet here. Not another soul in sight. The man sighed in content and continued on his way with a smile. would he get a salmon and looks bagel. Maybe he'd grab a cappuccino on his way out.
He was so mesmerized by his thoughts that he hadn't even noticed the figure standing in his way. The young man hadn’t seen him coming either and only wanted to cross to the other side where a stack of cardboard sat with his name on it. When the older man had bumped into the smaller person he shouted not even thinking twice about it.
"Watch where you're going you idiot." It's not like anyone fell or they bumped heads. All he did was drop his expensive briefcase. It had barely gotten a scratch. The man snatched it up expecting to yell at this person for damages that had never occurred. The man was just always irritated by people touching him. It made his blood boil before he could think.
The young male figure looked up at the man and his blood went cold in an instant. Here stood a boy, not yet a full man. His hair long and tangled under a hooded sweatshirt that happened to be torn and dirtied. His face had smudged dirt and his pants were stained with god knows what. He wasn't even wearing shoes, the man noticed as his toes curled into the street.
But under the foul smell and grime, the man saw a beautiful person. Maybe not in personality he wouldn't know just yet but definitely in appearance. The young man had full bow lips and a milky complexion under all the dirt. He was small barely reaching 5'6. Most startling of all was his eyes. They were blue not like the ocean no, but like the baby blue sky. They were so enticing in a way he hadn’t yet come to understand.
"I'm sorry." Was all the young man said before walking away. The cold man was in such a daze he hadn't even realized the boy was leaving. He reached for him despite his disgust for the other's drab appearance and at the moment and smell. Grabbing his shoulder the older man spun around the confused boy. His brow was furrowed. He had already apologized what more could he want.
"Wait. I apologize for yelling at you.” The younger man shrugged off his hand and stated in a polite manner.
"It's okay." And he started off again not going in any particular direction. For some reason, the man couldn't leave it at that. So he reached for him again.
"No no it's not, I should make it up to you." That was all he could think of to say to at least anchor the other to him for a while. Long enough to gaze at him with wonder.
"It's really not a big deal Sir. I think you should leave me alone now." His soft spoken words were meant to sound demanding but it just sounded like a kitten meowing. The boy wasn't good at this whole being assertive thing. How had they expected him to go out on his own and survive, not even able to demand what he wanted.
"No, I cant." He heard the older man mumble whilst looking into his eyes. The sun hit his hair lighting it aflame making dark reds appear prominent in his brown hair. This man scared him a little, was he being nice or trying to get something more out of him. Everyone always wanted more from him. With this man, he wasn't sure.
"At least let me know your name." He pleaded. His hazel eyes shone in the odd lighting. The younger male saw harm coming to him if he revealed his real name. So he lied.
"It's Remi."
