CAN I HAVE YOU FOR THE NIGHT?
"I can't believe we owe the bank such a huge amount of money," Anna said her voice trembling, her eyes teary, as her whole body sank onto the couch.
"Yes we owe the bank"
"Yes, your father's company is in huge debt"
"Yes, the only property we've managed to retain, which is this house we live in right now, is about to be taken by the bank in seven days as collateral if we don't pay our debt"
Hearing these words from her mom felt like a needle piercing through her skin.
Buzz… buzz….buzz the sound from Anna's phone interrupted the thought of the three women.
Unlocking her phone, A message from the general surveyor popped up, her heart raced and her hands were shaking obviously as she clicked the message open.
Hot tears dripped down her eyes as her phone slipped down her fingers
She cried because she knew from the content of the message that she was left with no choice but to accept Lucas Williams' proposal.
"You've got to do this, my love"
"For your dad, for myself, and your aunt," Amelia said,
Wiping her daughter's tears and gently stroking her hair, she continued,
"You wouldn't want us to be homeless and watch our status in society fade away"
Anna cried even harder as her mom spoke.
"You will be fine my dear Anna" her aunt said assuringly.
"Marrying billionaire Williams will open up different doors and give you access to many connections and influence to get the justice our family deserves"
" We are counting on you to do this for us"
Hearing these words from her aunt, she stood up and ran upstairs weeping profusely.
Her mom sat on the couch watching her daughter let go of her grip and run upstairs like the world was in a race with her
She wished she could help, but she couldn't.
Anna got to her room and slammed the door shut instantly, grabbing her pillow, she cried herself into a stupor.
With a saddened heart and absolute confusion, she picked up her phone to call her best friend.
Her best friend Aria is a police officer and has been away for over two weeks for training.
"Hello Anna" a soft feminine voice responded from the phone
"Hi Aria" Anna replied coldly
"Hello, hello, hello…..I can't seem to hear you clearly" the feminine voice from the phone said.
Anna hung up the call sorrowfully, grabbed her pillow and went back to bed.
"Wake up"
"It's morning already" Amelia said, gently stroking her daughter's hair as she sat beside her on the bed.
Realizing she didn't lock her door the previous night
She jerked up immediately she felt a soft feminine hand on her hair.
she sighed with relief when she saw it was her mom.
"Good morning Mom," Anna said, her voice tinged with distress
Without responding to her child's greeting Amelia unlocked her phone, scrolling through, she opened her gallery app and handed her daughter the phone.
Anna rubbed the back of her palm on her face trying to clear off her sleepy eyes as she collected the phone.
Sighting the image on the screen she quickly looked up at her mom.
Mom?" she called out confusingly
"Was wondering what style of wedding gown you would like for your wedding tomorrow, so I asked our stylist to send samples"
"Mom?" she called out again
"Don't worry, your billionaire husband already paid all the expenses" she said smiling.
Anna glanced at the image of the wedding gowns on her mom's phone and then at her mom who was smiling ear to ear.
So this woman is just going to marry me off to this notorious billionaire for the sake of money and status. Anna thought as she stared at her smiling mom.
"Can I come in?" Aunty Emily's sultry voice asked distracting Anna and her mom
"Yes, come in" Anna answered meekly.
"How are you Anna?" she asked her niece, her voice barely above a whisper as she sat close to her brother's wife.
"I wish I were fine" Anna answered slowly.
"Oh my love"
"You will be fine, you are doing this for the entire family, and we love you"
"Love me?" Anna asked rhetorically with tears rolling down her cheek
"I want to be left alone," she said coldly, walking towards the door and opening it for her mom and her aunty to go out.
Without any more persuasion, the two women walked out quietly and Anna slammed the door shut immediately.
Grabbing her pillow she cried harder, she wished she had a choice
"How can life be this unfair to me?" she muttered
" How do I spend the rest of my life with a man I feel nothing for?"
"Never!" she blurted out
"I won't marry a man who is known for his nasty and promiscuous acts all over the city" she muttered, as she made her way to her closet to pack a few clothes.
Sighting her favorite pink-slitted gown that she wore to the New York City influencer's event, She remembered the first day she met Lucas Williams.
He was dressed in a black suit, and his figure and appearance were so masculine and magnifying.
"That bastard " she murmured
She found him physically attractive, his broad shoulders and cute nails were charming, but he was too naughty and something felt wrong about him.
"Hi, want some drink?" he asked, offering her a bottle of whiskey and a glass cup
"No, I don't do alcohol" Anna answered slowly
"Oh, nice, you are so curvy"
He leaned behind her and whispered into her ears "Can I have you for the night?" he requested.
His warm breath mixed with alcohol piercing through her ear sent some quiver into her veins and goosebumps soon covered her skin.
She looked at him with shock and anger flickered all over her
How dare he ask me for s*x, I'm not dressed provocatively for Christ's sake, she thought, staring at her outfit stylishly.
"No, I'm not a prostitute" she replied sharply
"And I don't do prostitutes either," he said, in a fake feminine voice to mimic hers.
"You are so sexy, I would do anything to have a taste of you," he said, smirking and biting his lower lip.
Out of irritation Anna stood up and walked out of the hall angrily.
