Chapter 4: Damian

"You lost them!?" I growled to the three members of my pack standing in front of me. None of them answered, which just fueled my anger even more. "Answer me, Damn it!!" Patrick jumped a little at the tone of my voice, looked me in the eye and said, "Yes, sir. They had weapons that were dipped in wolfsbane, Alpha. We were not expecting that." "How the f**k did one measly male leech beat three of what I had considered being, best of my men?" I fumed. "The female leech also had weapons on her, Sir," Hector spoke up. "She flew at me out of nowhere and stabbed me. I did get in a good punch at her though." He said happily with himself. "You are happy because you got in a hit, on a female leech. Really, son. That little b***h should have been a breeze to take down without having to hurt her," I yelled in his face. Why I didn't want the she-leech to be hurt, I have no idea. Why the f**k would I care if the little b***h got hurt. The look on Marcos's face told me he was wondering the same thing. "Get out of my face, the lot of you. You will be on training duty all week and will do another week of work in the mess hall." I ordered. The males groaned. I turned around and glared at them and they quickly went silent then said in unison, "Yes, Alpha." They then turned and walked out of my office. "Well, that was interesting," Marcos said as he sat down on the couch, in the corner of my office. "Interesting that two Leech scouts got away from us?" I asked while walking over to the bar and pouring myself some tequila on the rocks.  "No. Interesting, that you didn't want the female leech hurt. What?  You thinking of trying tail from another species?" Marcos snickered. "Don't be f*****g ridiculous. I could care less about the b***h. I'm just pissed I couldn't kill her myself." and I almost believed what I had just said, if not for Demere growling in my head when I said it.  "Now be a good Beta and help me figure out what the f**k they were doing on our lands," I said to shift the attention off the female. Marcos laughed at my meek attempt at changing the subject and answered, "Well, they could have heard that our pack is growing with the Granger pack joining us. I am sure they have scouts watching the roads in and off our lands."  "Double the guards on all our surrounding perimeter. With the induction ceremony happening tonight, I don't want to risk any lives." I said as I finished my drink. "On the topic of the induction ceremony, Adeline was asking who you were taking to accompany you at the ceremony and dinner?" Marcos asked slyly. "Aww...fuck. I didn't even think about that. Stupid f*****g traditions." I groaned. "You know, big guy," Marcos stood to pat me on the shoulder, "If you had us an actual Luna, we wouldn't be stressing right now."  "A Luna. Ha! f**k that! Never." I stepped away from him and headed to the door. "Never say never, my friend. Never say never." Marcos laughed as he walked out with me.
