Chapter 22-2

661 Words

Mike called six times on my drive home. I didn’t want to talk to him. I didn’t want to hear the excuses. I fell in love with him. I hated that it’d happened but it did. And when everything seemed at its worst, he used something like love to try to get me to do what he wanted. He told me he loved me to make sure I would do what he wanted. I wasn’t going to fall for it. When I got home I turned off my phone. I didn’t want to have to ignore every one of his calls or texts, so I just shut it down. I left my phone in my computer bag, which I dropped by the front door, and headed straight for the fridge. It wasn’t a night for wine glasses. Nope, wine glasses were for when you were drinking for fun. I was drinking to forget. I tipped the bottle up and let the cold fluid rinse down my throat.
