The plan was set. Charlie and Addi stayed with me a while longer, finally getting me to eat and helping me finish the bottle of wine I had. When they left, the loneliness sunk in and I finished another bottle of wine on my own. I woke up the next morning regretting that decision. My head was pounding and my stomach was rolling. I wasn’t sure I could even make it to work let alone have the conversation with Stephanie we’d practiced the night before. Addi and Charlie coached me on exactly what I should say, but with my head spinning and sobriety staring me in the face, I didn’t know if any of it was a good idea. After a long, hot shower I choked down some toast and a cup of coffee. I felt marginally better but still swallowed some aspirin just to make sure I would stay that way. I decide
