**Olivia’s POV**
The sound of Mark’s phone ringing breaks the awkward silence, and he says, “I have to go now, Olivia. Take care.”
Mark darts out of the room, and I breathe out heavily, feeling exhausted.
Just then, the door swings open, and a female nurse arrives with a health worker who serves me breakfast, since I see that it is past 11 a.m.
It is a plate of steaming custard, milk, and two bean cakes.
“How do you feel?” the female nurse asks me with a friendly smile on her pretty brown face, and I see her resemblance to Dr. Sam. She also resembles Erica Robin, my schoolmate.
“I am fine,” I reply, and she nods with a smile. She is tall, chubby, and has long, thick brown hair. She packs it into a ponytail and wears a white nurse cap on her head.
“Alright. Take care of yourself. I’m Nurse Hazel Owen, Dr. Sam’s older sister. I’m married with two kids,” she introduces herself in a soft voice, and I can feel my heart flutter at her words.
“Nice to meet you, Nurse Hazel,” I reply, peering at her beautiful face. I wonder why she is nice to me. Dr. Sam is also nice, and that makes me reconsider his offer. But they are still strangers to me. What if they are pretending to lure me away from my foster parents’ home and torture me like my adoptive mother and sister do?
“You don’t have to worry. I hear my brother’s offer to you. But he’s not a bad person. Sam is only trying to help you from a place of love. Besides, Alpha Johnson Anderson won’t be happy finding out that you are treated poorly by your foster parents. It is against the adoption rules and regulations of the Starfield Pack,” she says, speaking to me like I am her friend.
“Thank you, Nurse. I will reconsider Dr. Sam’s offer, but that’s after I get home to get my stuff,” I reply, my tone soft, my eyes watching her, and she smiles.
“Alright. Take care, Olivia,” Nurse Hazel says as she walks to the door and exits the room.
I resume eating my breakfast, my head aching at the thought of moving into a total stranger’s house.
If I were not a wolfless Omega, I would be thrilled at the thought of finding my mate, but then I have no wolf to help me find him, the man who could be destined for me by the Moon Goddess.
As I finish my meal, I push the bed table aside and wipe off my tears. I know crying does not solve anything. I have to be strong, and that is why I make up my mind to do so. I lie back on the bed, my back resting on the mattress, as I succumb to sleep.

**Mark’s POV**
“Mark, what kept you so long?” my basketball coach, Tyler Benjamin, yells at me as I arrive late at the basketball court. We have a basketball match against the Red Ballers in our pack. They do not want to accept their losses. But that is not for me to tell them to give up trying.
Aside from playing for the Yellow Ballers basketball team in my pack, I also play against other top packs, too, as I am among the Starfield basketball team players.
“I’m sorry, Coach. Something came up, and I had to hurry over,” I reply, joining the court, and my coach frowns.
“Get into position! The game is about to start!” Coach Tyler barks, his voice loud and stern, cutting off my excuse.
I run to join my team of basketball players. We have the triplets, Carter, Caleb, and Cooper Grayson, as the center players. They are responsible for shot blocking, rebounding, and defending the ball. They are dark-skinned, tall, and identical, as they are Omegas too.
We also have Alpha Johnson Anderson’s son, Bryan Anderson. He is 25 years old, dark-skinned, tall, and plays as our shooting guard. He shoots the ball from long range and scores many points. He is my teammate, and we are good friends. His Beta, Daniel Ryan, is our power forward, focusing on rebounding and defense. I play as the versatile small forward. Together, we make a great team, since we become the Yellow Ballers in our set.
As the basketball match kicks off, my mood improves as Logan, my wolf, is happy that Olivia is finally awake.
Logan tells me that Olivia could be my mate. I know I used to avoid her, and I hardly talk to her, but since she becomes a teenager and starts developing breasts, I cannot stop thinking about her rapid growth, and I do not care whether she has a wolf or not.
Olivia is pretty and everything I want in a woman. She is of average height and has striking blonde hair that bounces and waves whenever she lets it down. She has the most amazing smile that can capture any man’s heart, but she rarely smiles and only a few times have I caught her laughing with her best friend, Erica Robin.
“Mark, Olivia is possibly our mate, even though she doesn’t have a wolf. She is still acceptable and beautiful,” Logan says, wanting Olivia too. But the fact that she is like a sister to me irritates me.
I know Olivia is not the only child in our pack born on a moonless night, but she is a beautiful girl, and I wonder why her parents threw her away.
As the fourth quarter of the basketball match kicks off, we are scoring against the Red Ballers, a total of 120 points, while they are only at 30 points. Still, their group leader, Enzo Lawrence, whose father is a billionaire and a sponsor of the basketball game, does not want to accept his loss.
“Three minutes left! The Yellow Ballers are winning the game!” the supervisor announces, and the referee blows the whistle.
Enzo and his Red team players reach to block the ball, preventing me from passing the ball and scoring. As I turn to pass the ball to Daniel, I jump and throw the ball into the Red team’s basket, scoring three points for my team. It is an 8-minute match.
A minute left, and Enzo glares at me as the basketball match continues. They dribble and pass the ball until Bryan catches it and makes a free throw. He scores one point, giving us 124 points against them.
The Yellow Ballers win.
As the match comes to an end, I set out to leave for the hospital to check on Olivia again before I return home. However, Bryan and Daniel rush up to shake hands with me.
“You did a great job, Mark!” Bryan squeals as he shakes hands with me and envelops me in a hug.
“Thanks, Alpha,” I reply with a smile, seeing Enzo glaring at me. But I shift my gaze to Daniel Ryan and shake his hand before the triplets, Carter, Caleb, and Cooper, come forward to hug me too.
“Go, Yellow Ballers!” we squeal as we pose for a group photo before going to meet our coach. It is a friendly match against the Red Ballers, who refuse to accept defeat.
“Mark!” Coach Tyler calls my attention, his lips curled in a smile as I walk up to meet him. His youngest daughter, Rita, is among the Yellow Ballers’ cheerleaders. She wears a yellow top, a short skirt, and pink boots. She smiles and waves at me as I walk up to meet her father.
“You did a great job, Mark, along with the team. We have a basketball game coming up next week against the Bright Star Pack, so you need to get prepared,” Coach Tyler says. He wears a yellow top, black trousers, and black boots.
“Alright, Coach. I will be there,” I reply with a smile as I prepare to leave.
“That reminds me, Mark. Rita’s 18th birthday is tomorrow. Are you going to come? I invite the rest of the team, and they promise to be there,” Coach Tyler says as Bryan and Daniel walk up to meet us, along with our team members.
“Um, Coach, I have something to take care of at home, so I might not be available to attend Rita’s birthday. I am sorry,” I reply apologetically, and Rita’s smile fades. But Coach Tyler wears a tight expression.
“Mark, the party won’t start in the morning. It will start in the evening at 6 p.m., so I am guessing you will be free by then,” Coach Tyler says, since it is Tuesday.
“Alright, Coach. I will make time for it,” I reply, wanting to leave, and Rita rushes up to wrap me in a hug, and I stiffen as her hands envelop me.
“Thank you, Mark!” Rita giggles. Her rose scent fills my nostrils, and I smile and carefully pull her away from me.
“It’s fine,” I reply bashfully. The young women in the pack cannot stop ogling at me. Rita is a Delta wolf, and she is hoping that I will be her mate.
Raking my right hand behind my head, I rake my short black hair. I smile and say, “I’ve to go.”
