When Kage woke up, the first thing he noticed was Kieran’s spiced honey scent and the sound of a pencil on paper. His head hurt and he had a vague memory of one of the two quiet cheetahs hitting him. Why did he hit me? Then he remembered Maison calling Altina mommy.
He opened his eyes and saw Kieran, sitting in the chair between his and Kagami’s beds. He had one leg on the other and a large sketchbook in his lap that he was drawing in. Soft laughter drew Kage’s attention to the door, where two more cheetahs were squatted down, playing with a piece of string. They looked similar to the two that had come with Altina and Maison. Golden blonde hair that looked almost white was cut short enough that Kage caught a glimpse of a tattoo on the back of one neck that looked like a rose on fire.
