Dynasty "Karma" Jones. ** "Can I have a shot of Hennessy?" I asked the bartender. She nodded as she began to pour me up a drink. "Rough day?" She asked. "You have no idea," I said. "Well, I hope this drink helps loosen you up," She said as she slid the drink to me. I grabbed it and took the shot to the head. I set the glass back on the counter and enjoyed the burning sensation in my throat. Today was one of those difficult but great days. I had to go through hell and high waters just to find a guy today. But I'm not complaining too much because I had finally found him after searching for him for two months. But to get my mind off work, I decided to go to a club. It's packed in here, being that it is Friday night. "Karma?" I heard a male voice asked before a hand was placed on my shoulder. I immediately grabbed the hand and began twisting the man's arm. "Ow, s**t," I heard the man mutter. I turned around and looked at the man. "Please keep your hands to yourself," I said before letting the man hand go. "My boss needs you in his office," He said as he began rubbing his arm. "Well, if your boss needs me, he better come to me," I said before turning around and ordering me another shot. A few minutes later, I felt someone sitting beside me. Paying the person no mind, I began bobbing my head to the song that was playing, which was Feelings by Mo3. "Enjoying the song?" The male beside me asked. I looked over at him and nodded.  He was a nice-looking man. He was a brown-skinned, muscular guy. He had waves with a crispy line-up. His eyebrows, mustache, and goatee were nicely trimmed. He had on a business suit, which was kind of odd to me since we were in a club. "Yes," I answered. "Karma, right?" He asked. I looked him over and nodded skeptically. "Michael Newell, owner of this nightclub," He said as he offered his hand for me to shake. "I don't shake hands," I said. He nodded before putting his hand down. "But nice meeting you," I added. "What can I do for you?" I asked. He looked me over before licking his lips. "A lot actually," He said. "Enlighten me," I said. "Well, I have two propositions for you," He said. I nodded, telling him to go on. "One business and one personal," He added. "Let me hear the business one first," I said. "Do you mind coming with me to my office?" He asked. "It's loud out here," He added. I nodded and followed him upstairs to his office. Once we made it to his office, I looked around. There were two other guys in here. They were standing up by the door. I kept looking around and noticed a picture on his desk. It was him with another man. "Have a seat please, Karma," He said. I nodded and sat down. I watched as he whispered something to the two men who I'm guessing are his bodyguards. They walked out of the room. Then he walked around his desk and sat down. We were now facing each other. "Okay, there is this nigga named Murda. I need you to find him and bring him to me alive." He said. I raised an eyebrow. "What did he do?" I asked. Michael scrunched up his eyebrows in confusion. "I only gone on missions to find people who have done something extremely wrong to innocent people," I explained. "Oh, well, he killed my brother about a year ago," He said. I nodded. "Why?" I asked. "All that is not necessary," He said. "I just need you to find him," He added. "Well, in order for me to go a mission, I need all the info," I said. "If you're not willing to elaborate, then I am not willing to help you," I added about to stand up. "Well, my brother stole from him, but that's not a reason to kill him," He said. I chuckled. "Sir, I am no help to you," I said, standing up. "Wait. Why?" He asked. "Well, may your brother rest in peace, but he asked to die," I said honestly. "Stealing from someone?" I questioned. "Oh yea, he wanted to die," I added. "Karma, I just need your help finding the guy," He said. "Why can't you go find him?" I asked. He looked like he was thinking about it. "Because he'd kill me off the bat. But if you go, you'd have a chance of getting close to him." He said. "Why would he kill you off the bat?" I asked. "Well, I'm not one of his favorite people, and he's not one of mine," He explained. "Look, I can tell that this goes deeper than him killing your brother, and I'm not willing to get in between y'all's mess," I said as I was about to walk out of the room. "Oh, I understand," He said. "But I hope your sister and her father understand when they find out what you do for a living," He added, stopping me in my steps. I turned around and looked at him. He had a stupid ass smirk on his face. "The f**k you just say?" I asked. "Oh, you heard me, Karma," He said. "Don't you ever in your f*****g life bring up my sister," I gritted out. Then he smirked and surrendered. "Oh, I didn't mean to upset you," He lied. "But I will tell them about your little job if you don't help me," He said with a smirk. I rolled my eyes and sat back down in the seat I was just sitting in. "I take it that you have changed your mind, and you're willing to help," He said.  "Tell me what's the man's name that you want me to go after," I said. "Murda," He said. I looked at him with an eyebrow raised. "That's his name," He added.  "What does he do for a living?" I asked. "He hustles," He said with a smirk. "So he's a drug dealer?" I asked. "Well, you can say that," He said. I could tell it was more to it, but I was going to leave it alone for right now. "What color is he?" I asked.  "He's black," He added. "What does he look like?" I asked.  "Well, from what I can remember, he's tall and has lots of tats and muscles," He added. I nodded. "Okay, do you know where he stays?" I asked.  "He stays in Chicago," He said.  "It's an additional 150k for traveling," I said. "Okay," He said. "So 300k in all?" He asked. I nodded. "And all you want me to do is find him and bring him to you?" I asked. He nodded. "Okay, that's all the info I need," I said. "Now, pay half now and half later," I instructed. He nodded then walked to a safe that was on the wall. He opened it and grabbed a sum of money. Then he walked back to me and handed it to me.  "That's 150k, feel free to count it," He said. "Oh, I will later," I said. "Do you have a duffle bag?" I asked. He nodded and went to get one. A few moments later, he came back and set the bag on his desk. Then I started putting the money into it. Once I did that, I stood and began walking to the door.  "I did mention that I have two propositions for you," He said, stopping me in my footsteps. "What?" I asked. "Spend the night with me," He said with a smirk. I chuckled because he was so serious. "I rather spend the night in hell than spend it with you," I said before I walked out of his office and back down the steps.   I walked out of the club and walked to my Jeep. I got in and threw the duffle bag in the backseat. I groaned and started beating the steering wheel. "s**t! s**t! s**t!" I cursed as I hit the steering wheel.  The last thing I wanted to do was to get my little sister involved in my s**t. I will be damned if I let anything happen to her. | | | * Next Day * "Girl, come on. I'm outside." I said to my sister through the phone. "Okay, I'm coming," She said before hanging up the phone. "I know this lil heifer ain't hang the phone up on me," I said to myself as I place my phone in the cupholder. A few minutes later, I watched as Desirae's dad walked out of the house. I rolled my eyes at the sight of him. Tyrone walked and came to my window. I let down my window. "How may I help you?" I asked, praying he wasn't about to piss me off. "What time are you going to have Desirae back in here?" He asked me. "Whenever we get through with our girl's day," I said.  "Look, Jasha and I have been talking, and we think that you need to limit your time around Desirae," He said, pissing me off. "We know that you love her, but you are a bad influence on her. Who knows what you have her around." He said. "Look, Tyrone, please get the f**k away from me with that bullshit. Like you just said, I love my sister more than anything else in this damn world. I'd never put her in harm ways. I don't know what lies your wife has been feeding you, but you need to stop eating that shit." I told him as Desirae walked to my Jeep and got in. "Now, anything else, Tyrone?" I asked. "Be safe and take care of my child, Dynasty," He said before walking away. "What did he want?" Desirae asked me. "Nothing important," I said as I backed out of the driveway.  "So, how was your week?" I asked her as I looked her over.  She was beyond gorgeous. Even though she was just 12, her curves had already come in. Thanks to puberty. I already know these older boys have been looking at her, and I've been telling her to stay away from them because men ain't s**t. But trust and believe if they try my baby sister, I'll kill them. "It was good," She said. "I made the cheer team for next year," She added enthusiastically. "Congrats, Rae," I said. "I told you that you were going to make the team but noooo. You don't want to listen to me." I said, making her laugh.  "I know, Dynasty. It was just the nerves." She said. I nodded. "You ate breakfast yet?" I asked her. She shook her head.  "No, Jasha was cooking, but you had pulled up," She said. I nodded. "What you want to eat?" I asked her. "Waffle House," She said. I nodded. "Ight," I said as I drove down the street to the nearest Waffle House.  Once I made it to Waffle House, I parked and cut the engine off. Then we got out and walked in. I looked around to see where we would sit.  "Hey, y'all," A lady greeted us. "Y'all can go sit over there," She said, pointing to a table that was in the corner. I nodded. Then we went to sit down. We looked over our menus until our waitress came. "Hello, I'm Lauren, and I'll be you all's waitress," The waitress introduced. "What can I get y'all to drink?" She asked. "Water," I answered. "Sweet tea," Desirae answered. "Okay, I'll be back with y'all drinks," She said. "So, Dynasty?" Desirae called, making me roll my eyes. I know she wanted something. "Yes, Desirae?" I asked. "So I always hear my dad and Jasha talking about the line of work you do," She said. I nodded, telling her to continue. "So I wanted to know what you," She added.  "Well, I go after bad people," I said honestly. "So, you're a police?" She asked. "No," I answered. "Bounty hunter?" She questioned. "Well, you can say that," I said, trying to sugar coat what I actually do. She nodded.  "Okay, here are your drinks," The waitress said as she set our drinks in front of us. "Are you all ready to order?" She asked. I looked over at Desirae, and she nodded. "Well, let me get a Texas Melt with sausage, egg, and cheese," I said. The waitress nodded. "And add bacon on it," I added. She nodded. "And for you?" She asked Desirae. "Can I get the bacon and cheese chicken sandwich?" Desirae asked. The waitress nodded as she wrote the order down. "Ight, I'll put your orders in," She said before she walked away. "So Desirae, what do Tyrone and Jasha say about my line of work?" I asked. "Well, Jasha said it was dangerous, and I shouldn't be around you," She said. I nodded my head. I was even more pissed off. "Desirae, I just want you to know that I'll protect you with my life. I'll never let anything happen to you." I said, looking into her eyes. "I know, sissy," She said with a smile. "And always remember that I love you, Rae," I said to her. She nodded. "I love you too," She said back, which made me smile.
