CHAPTER FOUR

Dorcas was shocked at that point, "This was the first time Ethan raised his hand on me." Dorcas thought to herself. "What was the meaning of that." Dorcas said with her hands still on her cheek, "The next time I see you near my wife threatening her, I will end whatever this is." He said with an angry and squished face. Dorcas took her bag and left immediately.

"Ryke!" Ethan called, "Boss" Ryke replied opening the door. "Call me my wife" Ethan ordered, immediately Ryke left to call Avery. "Lady A" a voice called from outside, "Any problem dear?" She said with a calm face. "Our lady the boss request for your presence." Immediately Avery wore a long face, "I guess his mistress has reported me" she thought to herself. "I'm coming right away" she finally responded carrying her kitten in her arms.

On reaching Ethan's room, she got the courage to face him, immediately she got there, she knocked "Come in." Ethan replied. On hearing the voice, her heart began panting fast, she felt the world coming down to her, she thought to go back to her room, suddenly she got the courage and opened the door "You sent for me?" She asked wearing a long face. "I am sorry." Ethan managed to say after a long silence, Avery was very confused at that point. "Sorry for what?" She asked but this time wore a confused face "I overheard Dorcas, I promise the next time she does anything stupid I will send her out of this house for good." Avery was very confused at this point, "Did Ethan just apologize?" She thought to herself. "Apology accepted." She replied. "Please put on some nice dress, let me make it up to you." "Where to?" She asked with curiosity. "Oh, dinner date" he replied kissing Avery on her lips. Avery stared at him for quite some time in disbelief "Did he just kiss me?" She thought to herself, "Hey babe" he said with another kiss "Yeah, I will be ready in an hour" she said leaving the room "There is no need for you to leave, the maids will bring your dress here, or are you shy to dress up with me?" He asked as he bit his lips with his upper lips, throwing his hands into his hair. "I would tell them to bring everything I need," Avery added wearing a pretty smile as she picked up her phone.

"Emily" Avery called through the phone, "My lady how shall I be of help?" Emily replied. "Kindly get me a dress good enough for a dinner date and my makeup, don't forget the hills," Avery said before ending the call. She made her way into the bathroom, "Quite bigger than mine" she thought to herself. She pulled off her dress and made her way to the bathtub, as soon as she was in, Ethan came in, "We are having this warm bath together" he said with a smile. Avery dared not say no as a lot of thought flashed through her mind "Okay, join me." She said "My pleasure." Ethan said going into the bathtub.

Soon after they were out and ready to go, "Melvin" Ethan called the driver, "Is the car ready?" He added. "Yes boss" the driver replied. Ethan got into the car, Avery joined him and they zoomed off.

Finally, they arrived at a fancy restaurant, the restaurant was nestled in a luxurious building, with a grand entrance and a spacious foyer. The interior is sleek and sophisticated, with dark wood accents, crystal chandeliers, and plush carpets. The atmosphere is refined and elegant, with soft lighting and a hint of jazz music playing in the background.

The dining area is adorned with elegant table settings, complete with fine china, crystal glassware, and crisp linens. The walls are adorned with artwork and vintage decorations, adding to the sophisticated ambiance. The tables are spaced generously, allowing for private conversations and an intimate dining experience.

They sat down at their table, and the waiter handed them menus. They began to peruse the options, their eyes scanning the pages.

She ran her finger down the list of appetizers, pausing at the seared scallops. "Hmm, these sound good," she said, looking up at him.

He was studying the entrees, his brow furrowed in concentration. "I'm thinking about the filet mignon," he said, "or maybe the salmon."

She nodded, her eyes still on the menu. "Those both sound great. What do you think about the sides?"

He shrugged. "I don't know, what do you think? The roasted vegetables or the truffle mashed potatoes?"

She smiled. "I think I'll go with the vegetables. And maybe we can share an appetizer?"

He nodded, and they continued to discuss their options, asking each other questions and making recommendations.

After a few minutes, they had made their decisions, and the waiter came to take their order. They confidently told him their choices, and he nodded and smiled, taking their menus and disappearing into the kitchen.

While having dinner, Avery kept wondering why his wives died, did he kill them or what "If Ethan can be this nice and caring, why did the others die? is it that he killed them or they died due to an illness or the other?" Avery thought to herself. "This is the second time he has been this kind to me, it was not what I expected from him, either way am glad I am not in my father's house." Avery kept thinking and soon she was lost again, "Hey baby, any problem?" Ethan cut into her thoughts. "Oh, no. Just thinking of how to thank you for this meal." She said wearing a cute smile. "Well, you can thank me only when you finish your food," Ethan said as he laughed.

After the meal, they got into the car and zoomed off, soon they got home only to find his sister at home. "How may I help you?" Ethan asked his sister. "I see, so it is because of this b***h you sent my best friend away," Mandy responded. "Last time I checked, Dorcas is nothing but my mistress and I have a wife now, what do I need a mistress for when my wife is all I need?" Ethan added.

Now Mandy was very angry "I know my brother hates me, but he never speaks to me in this manner." She thought to herself.

Now Mandy faced Avery, "I promise you, you won't get away with this." Mandy said as she left.

Ethan kissed Avery good night as she retired to her room, Avery quickly took her bath and changed into her nightwear. "What just happened outside?" She thought to herself with a smile on her face, "Does this mean he loves me?"

"What a life" she finally said as she dozed off
