Chapter 1
Chapter One Ariah's POV It was raining so hard outside, here in California. We lived right off the outskirts of Hollywood. But not in Hollywood. Business often poured in during summer time when people were taking trips to try to get a glimpse of Hollywood glamor stars. The only stars we had saw come in here before was that guy who played Herman Munster on the tv show The Munsters. The owner of the store had been here that afternoon and managed to get photos as well as an autograph from the man. So, it hung proudly on our wall here beside the cash register. Bill Thomas often mislead people by saying see you will never know who you might meet by stopping to eat here. I never once met anyone famous in my life. My mother once took me on a trip for my eighteenth birthday on that tour of the stars home. We saw Lucille Ball's home with Desi but we did not get to see anyone outside or inside the house. Not real thrilling. But it was for my mother. She often took me on the star walk of fame downtown for my birthdays as well. I saw it many times. With dirty footprints on the stars. I supposed someday I would look back on that and be glad I saw it. I would be able to say I saw it when.... Maybe to grandkids one day. No one was coming in here on this rainy day that was for sure. Maybe my boss would let me off work early. I sat at the counter waiting for someone to come in. We had one customer here. A loyal one. Phil something. He always got a coffee and a piece of pie. And would say thanks for the sugar, sugar. I think he lived alone so he would often come in here to eat where people were around. He was always here every Thursday afternoon. Like clock work. I stand with my elbows on the table while my boss was on a phone call with someone. A very nice-looking sports car comes speeding in then parking in front of the place. I could not see who was in the car. The rain was really pelting down hard. I see it was a tall gentlemen rushing out of his car. He makes sure to lock it up. He had a fancy sporty men's coat on. He was getting drenched out there in the rain. He comes rushing inside here to get warmed up. I go over by the coffee station. He was sure going to order something warm to drink. They all did on days or nights like this one. ♥☆♥ "f**k what a god damn day it is" he mutters in a soft voice. I was making sure we had plenty of coffee fresh made. I knew that Phil downed most of it already. "What can I get for you sir?" I question him as I check my image of my reflection there in the coffee pot. My hair was still perky bouncy with curls around my shoulders. My lips bloomed a cherry bright red. That was good enough for me. "A cup of coffee please. Do you have any pie?" he wonders. I called it. As always. "Sure do. We have some cherry left. Apple. And coconut cream is the best" I brag on our pie. Though I had better before. "I will take a piece of that coconut pie you bragged about" he tells me. "Sure thing. Decaff? Regular on the coffee sir?" I wonder. "Regular is fine by me" he answers. ♥☆♥ I pour his coffee. Then slice up his pie for him. I turn around and nearly allow the pie to slide right off the plate I am so floored by who came in just now. His perfect curly hair was a wet mop of a mess on top of his gorgeous head. I had to admire those signature blond waves were a mess on his head. Nothing like soft curly locks you could mess up in bed. And his green eyes sparkled with a happy twinkle in them. A smile curves on his lips when he sees me turn around. I manage to hand him his coffee and pie. "I take it you saw my movie then?" he chuckles. "Oh yeah" I regain my composure. "You were really good in Reble Without A Cause" I tell him. "Thanks, I see you get many stars in here often? Is that Herman Munster?" he chuckles. He points to the picture on the wall there. "Yes, that is the one and only" I laugh. "but no we do not get them in here a lot" I whisper to him. "Maybe I will start a new trend then" he chuckles. His voice was smooth. Like a romantic radio show host. I could listen to him talk all night. My heart actually flutters. The palm of my hands sweat a bit. "Thanks for the pie" he tells me. "That is my job" I chuckle. I was so lame.... "Ariah?" he says as he squints to read my name tag. "that is pretty. Never heard that name before" "I was named after my great grandmother who actually used to be a silent film actress back in the thirties, she did not make it real big. She had a few bit parts. But she loved to act in plays as well around these parts" I brag on my family. "Wait was she in Jungle Of The Beast? Made in 1934?" he asks me. "YES! She was Jungle Jane" I giggle. "a poorly made Tarzan that flopped in the movies" "Wow I loved that one" he tells me. "we watched it back in my home town of Indiana" "I met great grandma once. Before she died. She was at the nursing home. I do have a scrap book and a collection of her movies. Well mom has them" I tell him. "Are you in acting to?" he wonders. "ME? In acting, no I just want to get a better paying job and a place of my own. I have no plans to act" I say as I shake my head. "it is rough out there" "Good choice" he says. He digs into his pie. He smiles. "This is really great pie" "Thanks" I say. I made it earlier. "You bake to?" he teases me. "Some" I admit as I shrug my shoulders. I tie my white apron tighter on my light blue uniform dress. "Ariah, get to wiping the tables. You have work to do!" warns my boss sternly. He was off the phone now. ♥☆♥ "Will do sir" I mutter. "Sorry I was chatting and taking up her time" James apologizes to my boss. My boss sees him. His eyes grow wide. He looks shocked. "Why you are...." "James Dean yes sir I am" laughs James. "Can I....can I...." "Get a photo with you? Sure as long as Ariah is with us I would not mind" says James. "Me?" I squeak. "why me?" "You are Ariah's granddaughter. I want a copy of the photo to" James mentions. "Huh?" my boss says looking confused. "My great grandmother was a...." I tried to explain but my boss was rushing to get his camera out of his office. He came back out. Then Phil took a photo for us. James places an arm around me as well as my boss. Snuggling me closer to his side. He smelled so good. I wondered what brand of cologne he wore. He was still a little bit wet from running in here. Phil takes a few photos of us. Phil kept glancing at my boobs the perve. I was so much shorter than James. We were around the same age that I knew of. In our twenties. I was not sure if he was dating someone at the moment. I could not remember what I had read on the man. My boss now was talking up with James as he enjoyed his pie. The rain let up. The skies were clearing up. I could not believe I met James. I could not wait to tell my mother all about it. As well as my best friend Katie. ♥☆♥ "Here is my address. Personal one, to send me a copy of the photo when you get it please" I hear James saying. "can I get a piece of coconut pie to go?" he asks. "Sure" I tell him. "On the house James. No charge!" brags my boss. What an a*s kisser. "I will pay for it. No worries" laughs James. "but thank you" He digs out his change. Then pays for his food. I get him another piece of pie. Kind of bumming out that the hunk was rushing out of my life as fast as he came rushing in. He seemed so sweet. He gives my boss his address. Then winks at me with those pretty green eyes before rushing out of the place. He nearly leaves his jacket there on the counter. I rush it out to him. ♥☆♥ "James wait!!!" I call out. He was about to get into his car. "Oh, thank you Ariah" he says gratefully as I hand him his wool jacket. "You are welcome" I answer. "It was very nice to meet you and get out of the storm" he tells me. "I am glad I had a feeling to stop and pull over when I did" "I am glad you did as well" I admit. "Bye Ariah maybe we will see each other again" he says as he smiles at me. He sets his coat in his car then gets in. He shuts the door. Starts up his little blue sports car then drives off. I doubted I would ever get the chance to see James again. That was one thing I was sure of. I head back inside of the resteraunt. "So, your grandma was an actress? Can she come in here to?" wonders my boss. "Sorry she passed away a few years ago" I explain. "Damn, shame. Oh well we will have James now on our wall" my boss brags as he looks pleased. "I want a copy of the photo to" I beg my boss. "Sure honey" he answers me. ♥☆♥ He whistles as he wanders back in his office. I take James dishes back to be cleaned. He left his bill there but he paid for his items. I notice he jotted a note on the bill. It read Pleasure to meet you sweetie pie! James It had his phone number on there! He called me sweetie pie. I giggled at that note. I blush with pleasure as I stuff his note in my waitress uniform pocket. I knew he did not want me to call him. But I could save this. I could not believe he gave me his number! What was he thinking?? I was not a one-night stand kind of girl if that was what he was thinking he might get out of me. But still. Should I dare call him one night? See what might happen? Or leave things where they were. It was magical running into him as I had. It was something I knew I would never forget. •~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~~•~•~•~•~•~•~•
