"Hey, Prez wants to see you in his office." Storms calls out as he pops into the common area. I was sitting along the back wall. Savvy was cleaning the bathrooms, and some of the girls were out here. I have noticed Diamond watching Savvy throughout the day. Same as the other that in her little group,
With a nod to Strom, I move to the one prospect, Jason, who was helping behind the bar.
"Got a job for ya," I tell him, making him straighten up. He was working hard for that patch, "Sir."
"I want you to keep an eye on Savvy, she is in the bathrooms cleaning. No one is allowed to go in while she is in there. If she finishes before I come out, you are to stick with her."
His eyes moved to the hall where the bathroom was. "Um, is Blue in there?" He asked. I had to fight to hold my smile. That dam dog has put the fear into everyone in here. Grown-ass men, and they all move to the other side of the room when that dog walks by.
"Yes, but he wont bother you as long as you dont touch his owner."
I hear Storm snort as he slides onto the barstool.
I watch as he swallows but nod. "Yes, Sir." He turns, reaching into the jar that is full of beef jerky, pulling out a handful, then stuffing it in his pockets. He takes my place along the wall, leaning forward to peek down it, probably looking for Blue. I chuckle as I walk out of the room, heading for Undertaker's office.
Rapping on the door, I wait for him to call out.
"Come in."
Pushing it open, I step in, "You wanted to see me?"
He nods his head, "Yeah makesure to shut the door." He tips his chin at the door. Doing as he said, I moved to the chair in front of his desk.
He tossed a folder on the desk in front of me. "Keys just gave me this."
Scrunching my brow, I reach out, take the folder, flip it open, and the first thing I see is a printout of a newspaper article.
"Local man dies from fatal crash." Under it shows a picture of two smashed cars. It looks as if it was head-on, but the cars are so smashed that they look like there's only one car there.
"What the hell?"
"Oh, it gets better, keep reading," Prez says,
I skim through the papers. I stop on the one.
"Lenord Price was found not guilty of vehicular manslaughter and was sentenced to one hundred hours of community service." It has a picture of a man with two other people, who were smiling for the camera as they stood on the steps of the local courthouse.
The next picture showed Savvy being helped out of the courthouse by Doug. His arm is wrapped around her as he holds her up.
Even in the picture, you can see the grief on her face, the pain she was holding that day.
"How the hell can they let him off? It says his blood levels were three times over the limit?" I look up at Prez.
He shook his head, letting out a sigh. "I do not know. Keys found all the recordings from the trial that man was beyond drunk, but his lawyer brought up his medication, and that it wasnt the drinking, it was a reaction to the meds."
"And they bought it? Wait, his last name was Price." I looked back down at the picture. "IS that Senator Price?"
"Bingo," Undertaker says,
"So he bought his kids' freedom and is letting a woman struggle with the death of her husband without a care in the world, only that his kid got off free?"
Anger filled me, my hands were shaking,
"He is high profile and even through its was his kid, he needs to keep his name clean. He can't hold his position with a drunken son who killed someone, and that someone was a military officer, which Keys is trying to dig into his service record, but keeps hitting dead ends."
What is wrong with these people? I can see how much it is affecting her from just the picture. How can they not see the pain she wears?
"Look, the other reason I called you in here is that I noticed you seemed to have taken a liking to our Savvy girl."
I growled at him. She wasnt anyone anything, she was mine, my girl. I sucked in a breath at that thought.
The asshole across from only smiles.
"Anyways," He clears his throat. I only glare at him, "If you plan to take this farther you need to be careful. This woman has been through a lot. She is still grieving the loss of her husband. I do not want her to become a one-night thing and then be tossed to the side. I would hate to lose her as a cleaner, seeing as she is good at it, and it seems most of the brothers have found their manners since she came here."
"Im not going hit and quit it if thats what you thought, Yes I like her, but I know she isnt in the right head space, I can wait till she ready, there something about her that pulls on me, I cant explain it, I do not mess with the woman here never have not since I patched in. but with her it different, she not looking at my patch."
"Well, my friend, that is the difference between a patch chaser and a real woman, and I think Savvy is a good person. She has heart and a lot of fire behind her, but I can see she is fragile right now. She puts up a good front, but it's her eyes that say otherwise."
I nod, agreeing with him. Her eyes do tell more than she lets on. And I have also been there when she breaks down; it can be the simplest things, and I know it causes a memory to surface, and it hits her hard. I see it each time.
"Now, I also wanted to talk to you about Finn. Savvy didnt want him to be kicked to the curb, which says a lot about her. So he is going on probation for two months, he will get s**t work assigned to him and have one of the patch brothers on him at all times. If he screws up just an inch, he is out. No more chances,"
I nod, "Alright. What if he tries to go after her again?"
"Well then, we let her shoot him this time."
I bark out a laugh, knowing full well she probably would this time, or Blue may have him for dinner.
"There is one more thing," He says. And by the tone It important.
"The patch over, is almost complete. I was just talking with Storm. I need to have paper delivered to one of their business. It is a tattoo parlor, and I need it signed over into our name. I know you do not want to be put on the run, but I need you on this with Shotgun."
I groan, tossing my head back, my face pointed up to the ceiling,
"I know you do not want this right now, but this signing is important. I need that paperwork signed and brought back; it's over in the next town, so maybe two to three days tops."
I let out a breath, "Alright." Even though I do not want to leave right now, I cant push off my duties to the club.
"I'll get togather a few brothers, and we will head out. When do you need it by?"
"The end of the week."
My shoulder drops as I drop my head into my hand. "Dam man, you're killing me."
"Sorry, but it needs to be done like now, I know Im dumping this one, ya, I hate doing that to any of you. But this whole patch over has been messy, and they have hidden s**t from us, Keys is still sorting through the memebers and has a list of ones that need to go."
I know Prez, and this has been a s**t storm since it started. He wouldn't normally drop something like this on me if he had any other options,
"Dont worry, I'll handle it and have the papers back to ya."
